Got an early start today, good thing started raining by 12:30pm.

    Saturday 5/4/19

***pictures don't do the Duratex justice

***rack installed, awning installed, KC LED pods installed and wired

Rain all day tomorrow, finishing up rack undercover.
*In case some didn't know parts of the Southern Appalachians are a temperate rainforest.

    Sunday 5/5/19

***39 mounting points, may seem excessive but ended up being perfect amount needed

***may add extensions to close gaps at base

***Something interesting happened today after the rack undercover sat in the sun all day. It tightened up like a drum. As can be seen from pics in the post from Sunday there were a couple droopy spots on the top. On the drive into work this morning I could see them out the rear view mirror, so I started thinking how I could secure them up. No need for that now. All I can figure is the semi damp cover dried and shrunk. I've used alot of this 1000D Cordura over the years didn't realize it would shrink like this. Worked out in my favor.

***Update 5/30/19: after observing for a few weeks I now realize the rack itself is expanding in all directions when it heats up pulling the cover tight, in the morning it's slightly slack then in the evening after being in the sun all day it's tight as a drum

*** My working "To Buy & To Do" list from March 1st to June 29th. This list/schedule was the only way I was going to be able to finish this build before my trip. Feels so good to line out items from the list. 7 weekends til my trip.

Super impressive build! Couple quick questions about the schematic. I studied it for a few minutes and think I understand the electrical paths...

1.) When you say a diode it needed for the outputs, you only mean (2) are needed right? One on each of the wired 87 pins.

2.) How do you size the diodes needed for the two outputs? I assume it’s based on the draw of the load you have hooked up?

Weekend was a complete washout, luckily I had a few things I could get done inside.

    Saturday 5/11/19

***fitted sheet for RTT mattress, $40 King sheet set from Walmart, had to use the bed sheet 102"x108" to make this fitted sheet (need the 108" width of the sheet because of the 92" length of the mattress), I'll hem the King pillow cases to fit standard size pillows, Tepui's sheet sets start at $180 shipped, might of been worth it making this was a huge pain

Should be interesting to see the reactions I get for what comes next. :D

    Sunday 5/12/19

***$20 in materials (not including the 8 gal bags), the bags are necessary as the leg bar below the seat will get soiled without them, utilizing the hinge allows you to lift is slightly so the bag can be wrapped around the seat for retention, for me overlanding is an adventure with sacrificing as little comfort as possible, to me overlanding is not camping

***All the main switches mounted and wired in their new location in the DIN pocket below the head unit (all active minus 40" light bar). OTRATTW switches with 7 port snap-in switch bracket. Ebay sourced carling style dual volt meter. Tech Deck with 4 RAM balls. Notice the Ctek DC to DC charger holding the AGM Aux battery to 14.6V+, truck not running ignition switch turned to ACC does activate the Ctek (why it's below 12v in pic). Truck running main holds 13.4v+.

***Main voltage readout connected to 12v ignition switched wire, while Aux voltage readout directly to Aux battery for anytime monitoring via toggle switch in glove box.

***OTRATTW custom text amp remote switches, installed and wired using 3 position switch holder, Skar bass remote knob fit to top port (just removed the outer casing and it pushes right in).

***Secondary switch bank signal wires reconfigured to correct relays at the relay bank (wiring for each accessory routed and waiting for hardware, red dome active night pic to follow)

***While complete center console disassembled wired and installed additional USB charging port in 3rd oem switch location (all Air-on-Board), now have 6 USB charging ports available, Camping Lights switch active, Rock Lights wires routed awaiting hardware install.

    Sunday 5/19/19

***18 gal water tank (front runner, to damn expensive! :annoyed:) and pump platform build, water tank mounting brackets all corners radiused (8 t-nuts), water pump mount (4 t-nuts)

***bed rack platform completion, wood filler in screw holes (cured over a couple weeks); cut holes for propane tank retention, water fill access, water output garden house flange; both routed, sanded, and awaiting several coats of black Duratex

***mock up of tank location with chainsaw and pre-mix/bar oil can storage

5 weekends til my trip

*** rock lights recommended by TW (8 total white)

***utilizing existing stainless steel L brackets (Tepui awning) I was able to get the rear 2 mounted up in relatively short amount of time, brackets had some weight to them so I safety wired to support movement

***I decided to use the OEM running board threaded mounting point locations to mount the 4 side lights, this would require a specialized bracket as the surface the threaded hole was on was at an angle, in order for the lights to point directly down the brackets would have to somewhat match that angle, my solution was to approximate the angle in the fist bend of the bracket (1" x 0.125" flat bar), worked out quite well with only one trial and error run

***brackets installed and lights wired, front brackets where just L shaped, routing the wiring for all the lights in a daisy chain configuration starting with the front left across the engine compartment, over the right front wheel well liner, backwards along the cab, over the rear right wheel well liner, across the back, and back up the left side of the cab was a ridiculous pain (took an entire day on my back, knees, and rear)

***the effort was worth the results :)

*** I hereby dub thee "Ram Rod" (completely not intended or expected, but I like it!)

*** engine compartment red LED strip install, I prefer red lighting to maintain night vision (hopefully I never have to cut the blue wire not the yellow wire), I purchased a 40" pre-wired LED strip from superbrightleds, the opposite end of the pre-wire I cut 12" off to use for my red dome light, the remaining pre-wired 28" was used for this install

***red dome light installed couple weekends ago

*** I was going to make my own bed lights with LED strips from superbrightleds but after crunching the numbers the cost from mattgeckoleds was the same with less work to install and his have the black base vs white, great products highly recommend mattgeckoleds and superbrightleds

***DC power box extension cord cut to length (10ft) and plug installed, 40" superbrightleds red LED strip permanent RTT lighting installed (inserted into a piece of clear vinyl tubing with endcaps), DC power box test fit and function tested (5V USB fan, red LED strip dimmer/off knob tested), 10ft DC extension cord allows for use of DC power box around truck

This should be the last major labor weekend with only smaller items to finish up before the trip.

I had planned to get a 40" LED light bar and an Air Zenith OB2 that would need installing but our well pump went out on Saturday so that was $2000 I was not expecting right before my trip. :(

4 weekends til my trip

Dude! This is an amazing build! That power control box looks marketable. Neat secondary battery placement also.

So, how much weight you figure all the mods add? By next year we will expect a diesel engine install modification, LOL.
