My issues with my Tacoma are very specific: they are the way it drives on 2-lane roads where you need engine and transmission responsiveness to pass.

Otherwise I don’t have much issue with my Tacoma driving around town or off-road...well besides the obnoxious hill assist that groans loudly whenever I start moving on an incline...and the useless crawl control...and the non-stop beeping...

I took my brand new stock 2018 TRD OF wheeling the second week, got dirty AF, got it stuck AF, got it unstuck, and it has not had a single issue. Take it to the woods almost every other weekend. Zero issues with it. Hope yours does as well as mine.

LOL, my wife and some of my friends think it's the funniest thing ever that my truck beeps for EVERYTHING. It even beeps when you turn it off and open the door. On that topic, can you turn off the beeping when you have Acc on and a door open? I thought it would stop after a minute or so, but seems to go forever. Want to play music with the doors open.

oh God, the beeping... won't... ever... stop!!1 :frusty:

I'm honestly thinking about removing the beeping speaker.

You have to either remove the beeping speaker or tape the door-pin down.

If I was fording 10" of water, I'd be putt'n through it slowly so that water wouldn't get sucked into the intake, and know where the air intake inlet is located.

The whole burning-oil on a steep incline issue - its the customer's responsibility to make sure the oil is always topped off to the fill line, especially before off-roading. That's why it makes sense to just change it right at 5000 miles vs extending to who-ever's 50 word oil analysis comment paragraph state's otherwise.

Typical Toyota dealership customer service issue otherwise - try a different dealer and escalate the issue up to the regional rep.

I always ask myself this question:
‘If in a similar situation would I launch a website and a smear campaign or sell the vehicle and move on?’

My answer is never “launch a website”, so chances are me and the guy writing the article have very different ways of looking at things.

I don’t like drama queens, and I really don’t like people who think their everyday problems are somehow fascinating to the rest of us.

    Thumbs down.

I don’t know. But last weekend my dad opened his door before I had turned off the engine; that appeared to anger the beep god’s ‘cause they just would NOT stop!

There we are sitting in the truck for several minutes trying to figure out what the f*ck the truck wants. It was like listening to a child scream uncontrollably, puzzled with no idea why.

Eventually I gave up and simply turned off the engine. Done!

IDK man, I mean I off road. Never had any issues. In fact, I'm just continually impressed with its capabilities.

10" of water is not going to do it. Intake is in the wheel well. I would bet you can easily double that and not have issues if you drive smart. And filling the oil isn't the issue. It appears that oil is pooling in the engine and getting sucked in via the PCV or through the valve guide seals when on a steep incline (and especially with throttle). There also could be a pickup issue in the pan that is exacerbated by the lower pan volume due to slow oil return. That is all guesswork until we can get more info. If the same, likely rear side, plug(s) is fouled across multiple instances, then it would appear to be valve guide seals causing the smoke.

It uses the same basic architecture of the motor it replaced. It essentially has a shorter stroke. The oiling system (as far as lubrication of the cylinders and crank) isn't going to be changed.
