Yep, some have expressed interest in pre-filters. I think that would be the only style to really run if you wanted to run one. I don't see slapping a sock covered in olive oil over the snorkel (lol). Just my opinion of course

For now, my airbox is pretty clean so i'm good. @Uphillshunter , if you pick one up please share results. Kind of curious.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

    Will do

I know those things work great for the equipment in the orchards. We have them on almond sweepers and the almond harvester. You'd be amazed at the amount of dust we dump out of those things every day during harvest.

The only thing I’m worried about is getting mud in there. And if that disc one works I’ll get it. 7FF8F30A-5B0C-47DA-AE75-4B0A716C9964.jpg

I remember seeing you mention the orchard. Military uses them so I have no doubt you're right - big time effective at helping to filter that dust/dirt out.

I actually was thinking about ordering a replacement ARB Safari Snorkel HEAD to see if it would fit. I recall seeing an article somewhere talking with the actual ARB Snorkel Engineers/Designers. It was about flipping the head around in the rain. They said it was never designed for that and if it was in fact done, they wouldn't recommend travel above 45mph I believe, something about the way the head is designed and its aerodynamics relating to intake airflow, etc.

Started me wondering if their was any difference in shape/form/design/performance with the cheap ebay vs the ARB.

Sorry to intrude but I was also looking into that ARB head. How it was designed to take water out. Also heard rotating the head around only while Off-roading. Then putting it back while on the road. Best bet is the disc head one.

So tracked this down so far for those interested -

    http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/safarisnorkel.html

Bottom of the linked page they list out the 'accessories'

Going to give them a call today and see what the difference is with the 'New Design'

yeah you lose the air ram effect at speeds over ~40mph according to ARB when the head is backwards facing, I've even read that it can create a vacuum when backwards that prevents air from going in and can starve the engine of the air it needs at certain speeds.

I tried telling that to someone on the TW FB page and man they did not want to hear it lol. Oh well.

There was someone on here a little while ago too that had theirs facing sideways...

Facebook groups like the TW & Tacoma owners have become a bad joke these days. Those guys buy a truck this week and next week they are experts on everything Tacoma. I bought mine new in 1997 (1996 model left over from previous year) and to this day I'm still learning new things about it. TW has a wealth of information but FB has turned into a "hey what size wheels and tires you got there" and "what lift do you have" show and tell. There was a post on there a while back in the Tacoma Owners group about the eBay snorkel kit. Guy posted a picture of his truck with it installed and another member with an ARB Safari snorkel just lost his mind over it.:annoyed: Dude just went on and on about how the Safari brand was superior to the eBay kit. Thing is he really didn't have anything to back up his claims. He's probably here on TW so I won't call him out or anything but man Facebook has just gotten full of dudes like him.
I could care less what others think of the eBay snorkels and it's really nobodies business WHY I have one. But I'll say one thing, the world is FULL of people that LOVE to HATE them. That part really surprised me after I installed mine.
Bottom line is, don't pay those guys on FB any attention and ignore all the haters. Enjoy your snorkel and just smile and wave.:burnrubber:

F-tards will always be f-tards. Calling them out is sometimes therapeutic. Usually always fun and definitely a good laugh.

Personally I love my cheap ebay snokel. Defiantly would not want to spend $400+ on a ARB branded one when it's practically the sane exact thing!

This might have been answered earlier but i don't want to go through 61 pages. Does the snorkel work with a power antenna?

Well you see......................................................................................................................................................................... I'm not sure but I think somewhere in the 61 pages someone mentions whether if it fits or not.
