Also maybe let the dealer do the shell install and wiring too, that's what I did and he guaranteed the fit against leaks.

Anyone that tells you that ARE OR LEER is superior is full of shit. Both are both able to have factory defects prolly on the doors or Windows. Cost is the only factor

Is there that many more brands of lids? I get what you're saying but there is such a small market it's hard to say.

20170626_095908.jpg 20171014_141241_001.jpg There is prolly five that I can think of I have had three, Century,Leer,And ARE. I have had most ARE and have had no issues. Have had issues with leer that is why I don't think they are worth the extra money. Like other's have said cost first and looks second some of the caps on here look curly if the window is not centered on the length of the cap

MX for us. Has been great, especially with the SB. Dog screens, LED light, felt liner, drop front window, double handles. I've had Leer's too, and they have been pretty good too. Go with the best deal.

Waiting on my leer 100xr in quicksand. Should be in within the next 2 weeks. Paid $3300 for double windoors, carpet liner, removable sliding back window, automatic locking rear window, thule track, thule roof rack, and threw in the auto locking tailgate lock.

Ordered a Leer 100XQ two weeks ago. Getting it installed this Saturday. Front sliding window option and installation put me at just below 3k. Personally, I spent the extra money because I like the appearance. This is my first topper and I'm expecting good quality and customer support from Leer.

For most who buy a topper, it is probably a necessary accessory. Beyond the necessity, I think it just comes down to budget and what you prefer. The brands don't seem to make too much of a difference. Plenty of good and bad reviews for every company, Leer included.

I'd agree. For similar specs in the ARE it was only 100-200 bucks cheaper. No dome head light(i think it was an additional charge?) and no ability to add an auto locking rear window. The guy told me they are pretty much the same in materials and build quality just comes down to aesthetics and features.

I just liked the windoors on the leer and the locking option as well so i went Leer.

I have an ARE, but when it comes to caps, i'm not sure there is a huge difference in quality. My ARE was about $500 cheaper than what the LEER dealer quoted me though.

You're getting the same topper that I just got a few months back. I got everything you got but the auto locking tailgate. I could not be happier with it.

Did leer do the Auto locking tailgate?

It was offered by the leer dealer that is doing the Install. It's by pop & lock. It routes into the rear doors to work on the factory key fob. The install was free since it's going with the same wiring harness as the rear leer window lock. Was charged 125 for it so not to much of a markup considering the Install was free.

It worked great on my gen 2. It should work much better on the gen 3 since the handle disengages when locked. My drunk buddy almost ripped my handle of my gen 2 trying to figure out why it wasn't opening lol.

I'm interested in getting a Leer cap for my Tacoma. Decided on getting a brand new one. However I am not getting any options for the Features/Options when requesting a Dealer quote. Any idea why?

When navigating the Leer Site and putting in my trucks details (2019, 6'2" Bed Double Cab) It just skips the Options/Features and goes straight to the dealer selection.

I'm noticing it does this for a lot of the Leer caps for 3rd Gens. Dropping down to 2015s last 2nd Gen it allows me to chose Options/Features for the cap.

Does Leer not support Features/Options for 3rd gens or something? Am I stuck with only the base model with no features offered by Leer itself?

If your made of money get a leer but I have had ARE caps and it’s basically the same cap in different levels and a lot less money no issues with quality either

Just give them a call or change the year if truck. Plenty of options there.

Leer pretty much wants you to do everything at your local dealer. From my experience the pricing seemed pretty standard but I'd call 2 or 3 dealers for quotes just to make sure.
