I just purchased this 2006 PreRunner yesterday, and can’t wait to build it. First, I need to know what’s already on it lol.
It has some work done on it and previous owner doesn’t know exactly what was done to it because he bought it like that as well.
I’ve been told by some friends it has a leveling kit on it and a body lift, but I figured I’d ask the pros on tacoma world too.
Before I bought it I went to a autobody shop to get a quote on how much to fix the roof and he estimated ~$1000 but said not many people would be willing to touch it because of how much work needs to be put into it.

In the future I plan on putting a 3in suspension lift, window visors, 33s, black wheels, tacomabeast headlights, yellow fogs, roof racks, and upgrading sounds. I’m also going to be on the hunt for a sport hood as well.

Any other recommendations and comments would be happily accepted.

I have no idea, previous owner got it like that. Was hoping someone here had an idea
Like where the bed meets the cab? From what angle?

Careful with that model year. They are prone to rust up until 2013. Buy some Fluid Film and spray areas that look rusty underneath - search TW for photos and examples of problematic rust. Otherwise, enjoy the 2nd gen platform. I owned the same year back in the days when it came out. Solid truck but ended up wrecking it in the rain. I missed it so much, i recently bought a 2015 Tacoma. Mpgs arent great, but thats normal. Get rid of those heavy stock alloys and buy some SCS or FN Wheels which are lighter and better.

Thanks for the recommendation! Yeah I’ll search up what spots are prone to rust, I just assumed that it wouldn’t be as much of a problem in Hawaii since the road salt is what causes the rust (I think).

@c808nner Correct. It's the salt or moisture. If your truck has been on the island or on the west coast it's entire life then you have nothing to worry about. If the truck came from the eastcoast or spent time on the eastcoast then be aware.

Here is the body cab mount. I am right in the middle of a cab mount chop for larger tires. There will be a spacer between the cab mount body bushing. Post a pic of this area.
