Not sure where you are at in the city, but the reception is pretty poor. I had a craven speed stubby so the same thing basically. I ended up cutting the OEM antenna to 13" and stick the little ball back on. Reception is great and I love the look.

The $30 CravenSpeed antenna is just sitting in the center console..waste of money

So you just took off the antenna cut it? Does the ball easily come off and just put back on after you cut it?

hmm seems kind of scary to just cut the antenna? Did you just use some scissors and snip it? Reception is still the same and everything?

I know a lot of people do. Can't beat free. And I agree, it's hideous.

    Well then..

I have one off Amazon as well... the reception leaves a lot to be desired, specially with HD radio... I'll probably put my stock one back on here soon.

I didn't have any problems with reception, but it did start loosing color and now it's red-greyish. Still, it looks nice.

All other things being equal, a shorter antenna will get worse reception.

Also, the ball at the tip of an antenna is there to reduce static.

I tried it but reception really suffered. I'm back to the stock antenna.
