Looking at a 2014 Sport with 43,000 miles. Any way to use buttons somewhere to use as a garage door opener? My 2005 has such buttons overhead and near the rear view mirror.

    Just wondering, thanks!

My '15 has three buttons on the lower left side of the centre rear-view mirror. Any one of those can be programed to open the garage door if the door has Homelink. I have one button that I use as the door control.
I would think the '14 is the same.
    Cheers, Jeff

Not sure about the second gens but I considered a DIY solution for my 2018 OR but in the end, just opted to replace the stock rear view mirror with this Gentex homelink-compatible mirror as the LED colors matched the rest of the lighting in the truck and since I was able to use the stock wiring harness, the install took all of 5 minutes. Pairing my garage door openers was simple and took no more than 10 minutes.

Mine was pretty simple if you can solder just a little bit. Basically modded the garage door remote switch by adding a wire to each side. The button acts like I am using the remote and it ticks up nicely under the dash.

2013-2014 get goofy with mirror and homelink. 2013 has the fancy mirror with backup cam and compass/temp but no homelink, and the 2014 just gets a plain no frills dimming mirror even in TRD models. Neither have homelink.

My 2013 has backup cam, compass/temp AND home link. I believe this was a part of Limited package.

Probably, because no other 2013 package has it. Unless you got a residual 2012 part.

That's what I did with my 06, but I put it in the overhead console, wired to a momentary switch, been that way for almost 2 yrs, virtually cost nothing.

Now this is sweet, I wanna do it! Are you able to do a more detailed write-up? I'm curious how you got the switch installed, like how you popped the panel off and inserted the switch and what you soldered inside the remote.

Once u open ur remote, there should be 2 spots by each button, find the button that opens and shuts the door, that's the one u solder to, 2 wires and a momentary button and ur done, mounting is up to u, I put mine in the overhead console, if u open up ur controller and send a pic of the circuit board I might be able to point u in the right direction

This works well on 2nd Gens too. I replaced my (2013) stock Gentex GNTX 957 with a Gentex GHSHL4 from Bob's Automotive Mirrors.

Bob is an expert on this stuff who can answer your questions and sell you a mirror, OP, if that's the path you decide to take.

I did the same exact thing and it works great. Only issue is that the garage can be opened without turning the key on. This means that theoretically someone could break into your car and gain access to your garage.
