Just putting this out there because I'm always concerned about the crash ratings on my vehicles, and it bothers me to see people adopting this .

This style cab mount severely retracts from the gold safety standard that the Tacomas have built in to them. 2016-2021 Tacoma IIHS crash ratings
Whoever designed this mount showed zero regard for this.

On the 3rd gen frame, the forward cab mounts got larger than the 2nd gen and has more strength than on a 2nd gen, showing Toyota had a reason to do it. The purpose this mount serves in a frontal offset crash is to stop the tire/wheel from being jammed up into the footwell, limiting g loads on your's and your passenger's legs, hence why it got larger, as crash testing standards are getting more rigorous.
The footwell is already the weak point in the Tacomas crash worthiness, passenger side has poor lower leg/foot rating.

This aftermarket mount has no surface area to stop a tire/wheel, plus will simply fold rearward, or rip the welds off the frame. This could cause the cab to come loose from frame and let the the tire/wheel assault the footwell.
IMO, doing a normal Cab Mount Chop (CMC) will have a minor impact in safety

In this video, you can actually see the stock cab mount doing its job to stop the tire/wheel

I completely agree. That “relocate” is sketchy at best. There’s hardly any weld even holding it to the frame.

I believe someone made a thread that was somewhat similar but in regards to CMC.. white that said, what’s your opinion on a CMC?

Archive Garage has remained focused on suspension parts, and this focus helps Archive have complete and sorted products. From the start of offering Hammer hangers for sale in Nov 2017, the optional Hh cross tube has been available and still is. The cross tube fits any production hangers from the beginning.
The cross tube DOES add an additional improvement in ride quality (~10-20% of hanger improvement), because it connects the 2 hangers and frame rails together which adds torsional rigidity. This also protects the frame from stress applied to one hanger like rock hits. Archive's Hammer Hanger kit was the first replacement hanger kit offering a cross tube option.

FINALLY ORDERED. I CANT BELIEVE HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THE HH AND CROSS TUBE TO DIAL IN MY REAR END. My Dakar leaf #2 on the standard duty pack is catching the OEM hanger. Thanks to Eric for creating an incredibly flexible rear hanger setup that appears to be as durable as a block of solid steel while also riding significantly better than stock.

I don't disagree with you but that safety measure seems much more applicable to stock trucks with stock geometry (most of which aren't doing CMCs). With the combination of setups most people on here have, some sort of lift, +3.5" long travel kit and wheels with more offset, +2 long travel kit with aftermarket wheels, stock suspension with wheel spacers, etc. the tires are already being pushed out further and not even lining up with the cab mount like stock tires and wheel offset would. On my truck, if the wheels are straight the cab mount lines up with maybe 3" of tire.

Then there are rock sliders to consider. Depending on where your sliders extend to in the front, they may also be in that path helping to deflect impacts. Then again if your sliders aren't built well they could be getting shoved into the cab and crushing your legs.

To say that a CMC affects safety and not mention how a lift, oversized tires, or even a bedrack with a RTT may affect safety is “picking and choosing” what one person decides to focus on. Have you ever driven an older Chevy, dodge or ford pickup? Even in bone stock form they are awful pigs to drive. They brake poorly and slowly & they handle like wet noodles. If you people want to say a cmc affects safety then they need to realize this entire forum would be nothing but maintenance items. We’d have no fun with modifications. It’s all RELATIVE. A 2020 corolla is safer than a bone stock 2000 corolla but that doesn’t mean you can’t safely drive a 2000 corolla.

I waited way to long to do this, but had a good free weekend last weekend. Eric makes great products and looking forward to getting the rest of the rear end finished up when I get back to the states!
