The little chicago electric machine will get the job done. It's comparable to the shitty Amazon one I had. I didn't realize how bad it was until I moved onto a nicer welder and I seent the light. Holy shit what a difference, even with flux welds. It just burned so smooth.

I mean, knowing what I know now I wouldn't have bought the shitty welder and jumped straight to the nicer one. That's why I recommended the eastwood earlier. It can run flux quite nicely but you can try gas later on if you so please. And it won't break the bank.

What do you think about this for cutting some metals?

I recommend this instead. It's useful for cutting, and you can put various discs on there for sanding down the welds as well. Those are known as flap discs.

Does it have to be the 11amps? or will the 7amp half priced one work aswell?

Cutting steel with a grinder is slow and not precise. A grinder has it's purpose, but not for general cutting of pipe, angle iron, round bar or flat bar. You need a band saw or a chop saw.

11 amps has the balls to cut through stuff with ease. I personally wouldn't want the lesser powered one.

I mean, you can. You just end up working harder and spending more time grinding.

Just buy a Millermatic 211 autoset and a bottle of mixed gas. You'll be welding like a pro in a week.

If a dude's looking at $100 welders, why would he entertain a $1200 setup?

I'd love a 211 as well. Just didn't fit the context.
