I don't think anyone who knows anything about hockey can expect a sweep in The Finals in this day and age. If there were to be one, I imagine you'd see it coming as the team would have to be so dominant they'd probably have three other sweeps in the playoffs.

I didn't think a sweep was coming but I just was looking at Gm 1 and it seemed like everything the Blues were good at, the Bruins were easily able to counter. And usually when a team gets pushed around badly, they don't miraculously become the aggressor later in the series (physically). And the Blues have been able to use their physical advantage throughout the whole playoffs and I figure Bostons is 1 team which they really are not able to do it much. But the Blues definitely looked better in Gm 2 and were able to overcome a lot of the problems from Gm 1.

 

ST Louis is out to injure. Time for the B's to step-up and show them who's boss. I'm calling for a blood bath tomorrow night with the Bs coming out on top

Curious what that is based on. Boston bullied the Blues whole team in Gm1, not to mention Krug taking a 59-stride run at a guy (while pissed off). I didn't think he was exactly looking to make a normal hockey play there. Not saying it was suspension-worthy but that looked like it had some purpose behind it. I honestly saw very little intent on Sundqvuist's hit. I am ok with the suspension though. I thought Backes had the hardest (and best) hit of the game. I think Boston has walked the line all playoffs and the games are being called in a way that lets the flow of the game play right into how they like it. I think a lot of that can be said about St. Luis too, as they were the more physical team in every series they played. If St. Louis doesn't match the Bruins in that aspect, they have no chance. I didn't think anything they did was intent to injure, as much as it was just trying to bring that same intensity and playstyle that Boston has brought to every series.

Bang on. With the NHL officiating being spotty at best this post season the teams that took a mile when given an inch went the furthest, or at least it didn’t hurt their chance of getting to the finals. It’s kind of late to whine about rough hockey for either fan base since they’ve both benefitted from the lack of calls for physical fouls.

 

I’d love to have Doughty but we’d probably take Phaneuf

Marleau is a class act. He’s done his best with the kids in Toronto so I have a tough time with the fans who want to throw him under the bus for being slow this year.

Seriously though I wish I was 16. I don’t really know a middle aged guy that wouldn’t enjoy a replay of his late high school and college years.

It’s like history repeating itself at this point. Newb gets mad at post, newb goes all “do you even play brah”, newb learns I actually played all the way up to junior and wear stripes every year to give back to the game. Next he’ll try to go with some other personal blast hoping it’ll get some TW loving.
