I have the base Tacoma with 5 lug wheels and have the Cragar D window 15x7 wheels. They fit fine but noticed backspacing is about 4 inches so they stick out about 4 inches more than stock wheels. Seems to steer fine with 235/70/15s but wondering if it could wear the bearings or suspension parts in the front pretty quickly.

If the backspacing on a 7” Wide wheel makes them stick out FOUR INCHES further than stock wheels I wanna see some pics. Sounds dank. But then again 5 lugs have super narrow and weak wheels so that makes sense. Whether you run spacers or low offset wheels (like me) its all about give and take. Will it wear components faster? Maybe yeah, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay. Everything on my truck wears faster because I wheel it, often.

At most you have 1.83" (46.7mm) more poke. Not 4 inches. This will cause more wear but I feel it's not enough to worry about.

    Stock wheels are 15x6 +34
    Cragers are 15x7 +0 or +6

Backspacing is measured utilizing the inner wheel. That means you have approximately 3" of "visible wheel lip" if you have a 7" wide rim. Obviously the amount of "lip" is dependent on rim design and is a bad method of measurement to correctly calculate backspacing. There are good diagrams and explanations online as well on this subject.

Ok thanks for the information above, sounds like not really an issue. I had some vibration at 55+ in the front but got some hub rings, 60.1 to 88.3mm if I remember correctly. This took care of the vibration, possibly did not have them centered perfectly.

Hub centric is the ticket to wheel vibes, ive almost always utilized the hub centric rings when the wheel has a larger bore diameter than the hubs. It is good practice and may substantially improve the life of your wheel studs :D

Can I ask where did you purchase your hub centric rings? i just bought a set of KMC wheels. I can’t seem to find any rings to work. Looking for 60.1 to 83.5 rings.

I got the rings about 5 years ago and could not remember where I got them. I did recently order another set though off Amazon, have not tried them yet but hopefully they will fit. They may be a little tight on the truck hub as smaller ID is 60.06. AccuWheel ACHR83-6006 Wheel Hub Centric Rings (83.82mm OD to 60.06mm ID) - Pack of 4 pcs. I think the outer dimension should fit the wheels OK as the wheel hub is 3.3 inches about 83.82 mm.

probably should double check the hub dimensions on your wheel, it is 3.3 inches for the wheels I am using, Cragar D window 15x7. I talked to the people at tire rack about some aluminum wheels for a 2007 Tacoma 5 lug and they said they supply the hub rings with the wheel.
