Looking to pick up a new fire extinguisher to mount in the cab or bed somewhere. What fire extinguisher are you guys using?

Anyone spending that tall cash on a Halon?

I believe they make them for 2nd Gen Tacos, might have to inquire.
Using this mount on the passenger seat. + First alert fire extinguisher from Ace Hardware,($20).

Made a small mod to the mount, used some Velcro (fuzzy side) on the contact points to stop any rattling when driving over bumps.

Overall, easy install, less than 15 minutes and is just a arms length away if I need it. Highly recommend.

I have a 2.5lber in the driver's side backdoor cup holder and an additional 5lber in the box when camping, both are ABC.

I bought the same type.. ABC fire extinguisher, just havent found a decent place I want to mount it.. the plastic mount it came with is NOT going to withstand an offroad adventure of any type... need it somewhere out of the way that wont get crushed or stomped on in the cab.. and that is accessible when needed. under the rear seats is ok, as I usually keep mine empty.. but still think there is somewhere better..

Looks like a 2.5 abc Marine/Auto extinguisher is the way to go.

    Thanks for the link @Coyote501.

Isn't that the only thing safe for electronics?

Maybe an older truck doesn't need that due to lower value and less wizardry. But a newer one might be another consideration.

I'm assuming the extinguisher is for your truck, your truck on fire. For other fires/types and the vehicles of others more budget friendly might be more practical.

To be honest I'm not concerned about my truck burning to the ground as much as I am the safety of people, pets, and a cellphone to call for help. With that in mind, I agree, budget bc who cares about damaging electronics.

Well unless I'm somewhere without cell service.

I picked up a 2.5lb abc marine and that element e50. Should be covered.

$79 FOR THE 50.. its a cool item, but not sure I'd spend the coin on that... rather get a $14 extinguisher every couple years.. just keep it in my wheeling/camping gear, and that goes with me when I offroad..

A good 5 lb extinguisher like amerex can cost almost as much.

My history of using take-off parts from the jeep continues! First Alert marine 2.5lb BC extinguisher in a drake mount. The mount is bolted to my CaliRaisedLED forward bed panel.

I haven't tried it offroad yet, but:
    IMG_20190521_165524.jpg

The clamp came with the extinguisher from Costco and some Hondo accessory rail bolts.

I have a 2.5 lb Amarex halotron mounted to the front passenger seat rails (Bracketeer mount). I am not sure I would use it on my truck, it has replacement insurance. It is also a little small to be useful, I think you only get a few seconds out of it. I carry it in case I can help others.

The halotron is good for vehicle applications because it does not make a mess. You would have to think about whether the additional cost is worth it to you.
