No gold this weekend. My buddy and I did, however, cruise out to Tonopah NV and Goldfield NV to search for old coins. We explored some new ground Friday morning , crashed in Tonopah, and hit Goldfield yesterday. We have an acquaintance in Goldfield who is restoring the only remaining whorehouse, which is well over 100 years old. He allowed us to detect for coins and we were lucky in that we found a 1904 Liberty Head Nickel before we got blasted with rain. Good times!

Ha! I use to go there almost every weekend. That hotel in Goldfield is supposed to be a portal to the underworld lol that’s why it’s still all blocked off.

And it’s crazy that’s Tonopah is the stargazing capital of the US

Also. I stayed in the clown motel once just to say I did.

They are currently restoring the old hotel! Guys were working on it Saturday. We cruised by and read a sign "seeking contractors for H/VAC, drywall, and exterior finishing". It's nice to see a little rejuvenation in Goldfield. Kinda kicking around the idea of purchasing a lot or "cabin" (rape shack) during the annual land auction this year... We'll see.

Really??? Wow. I haven’t been through there in probably... 7 years now.
That’s cool they’re finally doing something with it. The initial restore ran out of money after that whole ghost/demon thing happened.

I use to go through there years back- like 15/16 years ago and their use to be a manikin hanging from a tree (at the sharp turn) it was black :anonymous: i was throughly surprised it stay up for years. Crazy the stuff you see out there.

I also saw a guy who was living in a tee pee and had a mule who was still searching for gold out there.

You should definitely buy a rape shack and re name it to Hobbs Tire House.

We talked about staying at the Clown, but decided on the Mizpah instead. The Clown Motel is super crusty, but it does have a charm about it...

Oh it was so gross. I wouldn’t recommend it. Just park in the parking lot once and you’re good. Lol

You gotta love Nevada! It is full of characters! I am getting to know more and more people over there and I enjoy being there. It may be just a tad small to retire in, though.

Hobbs Tire House. Has a nice ring to it. And the up side is I will still have these damn tires with me!

Yeah, went inside once and looked around.

I hear there is a movie coming out soon with the motel in it. Not sure what it's about.
