What’s your plan for the fender supports? I’m doing an inner fender delete. Tires already rub too much and I plan to bump up to 37’s on my next set

 

Chop off the cab right in front of the fire wall, plate the holes, and bend/weld a new support bar up to the front cab mount bushing. Then tie in the radiator and tab it out to support all the other msc shit that's hung off the front inner fenders.

Otherwise the greatest extent possible I'll mount stuff on the engine cage, not the cab extension.

Then 1/4" rubber sheet to make fender liners/splash guards.

The main goal is to get rid of all the cracking sheet metal around the rad support and to clear the tires. My 33s are rubbing on the fenders at full stuff, I'm going to get 35s this summer and need room...

 

Should be an easy weekend of ripping the entire front end off the body and rebuilding it. Hopefully everything lines up right when I'm done.....

 

Ok so the same thing I’m gonna do. Remove he front core support and replace with a single tube or something. Some people do a little tubbing instead, but it seems like the same amount of work to me. So why not just chop it all out and get all of the tire clearance you want.

 

Exactly. And no sheet metal to crack.

 

Got some super bumps and King 2x2" ordered. Thanks for the help. Now just need to wait and get all this shit installed.

Excited, most of the MT goodies have arrived! Some much needed Fab work is in order. Thanks for the rec on bumps. Went with super bumps for the front and 2x2" for the rear. Just need a new leaf pack now. Currently running King 2.5 Ext fronts and 2.5 rear with a full dakar pack with extra leaf (need to change this up).

Picked up the new Ray10 3.5BS and won't need to run spacers for the Front Race lower or relocate (hopefully)

There’s a few guys on here that have done similar in their builds. Of course I say that and can’t think of who at the moment. I’m getting ready to start mine in a month or so.

 

I read the 2nd gens on 37s thread in its entirety and everyone jusy tubbed. I do remember one guy completely rebuilding his front end from tubing which was cool, but not the same exact thing. It’ll be a year or so before I make the jump so it’d be cool to have all my ducks in a row beforehand

 

Agreed, I was debating jumping to 37's instead of 35's and if so tubbing it seems to be the way to go. But I think 35s for now. Need to redo the CMC, did the pinch weld, getting ready to cut fenders.

 

I’m on 34s on stock gearing right now so I don’t think I’d be satisfied jumping to 35s and lower gearing. If I’m gonna regear Id wanna do it right the first time. My taco isn’t my DD and I have the necessary skills to do the work myself, so may as well go balls deep!

 

100% agreed. I regeared last year to 4.56 but still on 285's but was not sure what I was going to do. wish I went 4.88 like originally planned but was not sure what I was doing tire-wise. Now I am debating on 34 or 35's with the current gearing/setup. Tends to happen when you have a drip build rather than planning some all at once.

Getting ready to get a bunch of work done to max out the MT as much as I can without LT.

May as well share this in here. I had a hard time finding info on how people were running their rear limit straps so I kinda did my own thing and I'm very happy with it. 2" square tubing, .120 wall, and the sides are 1/4" plate. Welded the bar together off the truck so I could get paint everywhere that needed it. Used TMR customs upper mounts (they're SOLID) and 14" trail gear straps. They're 6 ply vs all others I found are 4 ply. I like how beefy they are.

All of this is for Dakars, hammer hangers with stock shackles with poly bushings, and 12" 2.0 king smoothies in a BAMF mount.

Running this for a few months and it's rock solid.
