    Hi guys,
This might be like beating a dead horse. I have a 1" rear spacer lift. 2016 Tacoma OR SB
I have rear end drive shaft or rear axle gear noise/grunt. It starts at above 60 mph. It goes away at 75. It comes back with a vengance at 80mph.
I've shimmed my carrier bearing. I've electronically leveled the drive shafts. They are on the same angle. I've changed my differential fluid.
Nothing has helped yet. It's still the same no matter what I do.
Can anybody help me? I would try axle wedge shims next but I'm tired of throwing money in the toilet. Carrier bearing shims smoothed out the low speed vibrations. I didn't feel them that much anyhow. I have 265 75 16 tires. They ate only an inch taller than stock.

Your driveshaft angles change as you put a load on them.

I'm new to the group. Don't post much.
    I'm still learning this shit.
    It's a grunt. At 80 it's a moan saying please slow down.
I almost feel a drag at that point.
It's from the rear end. It's done it since November.

I have 4 brand new tires and just had new wheels installed. It's in the rear drive train. It's not the tires.

It's never done this last summer when I pulled my pop up camper. It started after my 1" rear spacer and has got worse since.

Then you need to equalize the transfer case and pinion working angles. You are basically trying to get your 2-piece to mimic a 1-piece driveshaft. Toyota sets up their 2-piece driveshafts using the compound angle method.
Remember to account for pinion risek(a.k.a. axle wrap) under load. Compared to stock or a spring lift, a spacer lift will exaggerate the pinion rise.

From the link; you are attempting style No. 2(not pictured).
Toyota sets it up using style no. 3.

You might want to re-evaluate which method you use. More than likely, you will need to remove the carrier drop and start over using style no.3.

My gut says you need to remove the carrier drop and use a 1-2 degree angled lift block.

I went from washers creating 3/16" of space with stock bolts to a 3/8"aluminum spacer and longer bolts.
Low speed felt better. High speed vibration doesn't change. It's still there.

Everything is right. Nothing is loose. Everything is lined up properly. I rechecked everything last week when I shimmer the carrier bearing more and changed the rear diff fluid.

I was hoping somebody on here has had a similar issue. I guess not.
I'm putting it back to stock and taking it to the dealer ship.
I found a small metal pc on the rear drain plug. Looked like a round metal cap that broke off the magnet or a bolt cover.
Rear end was low on oil at the 30k inspection.
    This is messed up. I guess I'm a 1 in a million.

    Just curious...
Did that metal piece look bowl shaped; like metal that gets stuck on a drill bit when it punches through?

I know it sounds dumb, but is your spacer on the right way?
