Listening to the radio out of Susanville, had a story that the Sierra snowpack is 202% of normal, two years ago was a good year also. Cant tell the snow is that much here on the Plumas NF close to home. I've seen one year where a spot I cut firewood, was not able to access it until late July. Good news.
We can see where snow is by doing a online search for snowpack map. Shows approximate depth.

I also have heard a few times about Mammoth staying open till August, no definite date. Tahoe area may not be open much longer, seasonal employees moving on to summer jobs.
Please take some pics of Sonora Pass.
I was able to access FS roads above me, sure has melted a bunch last three weeks. Got a load of Lodgepole firewood this AM.

I heard the same, the ski slopes will be open through July at least. Which is mostly unheard of for them at least in the last several years.

Really good news for CA for sure, I hope it happens again next year.

Big Bear mountain down here in SoCal got fresh snow as low as 6k ft last week, which is crazy for this time of year. Of course it didn't stick around too long but still.

People here in the LA area left and right are complaining about the lasting cold weather and rain, every time I hear someone complain about it I want to smack them. We need(ed) this.

1983 is still the mother of all California snow years.

That must have been my first Spring at my place. No power for four days, dumped late March into early April. No woodstove yet.

It was quite a year. I remember it too. Snow accumulated into May and was still melting off in mid July.

My wife and I went for a drive up #50 to Tahoe, #89/28 around the Lake, and then back down #88 to Placerville on Sunday. Most of the snow is melted except for the high peaks. All the passes were open and clear. Although, when we turned off #88 onto Mormon Emmigrant Trail to go home, we got just past the CalTrans gate, and ran straight into 4+' of snow still blocking the road, so we had to go back to #88 and down to Jackson, and then on to #49.

Diamond Peak out of Incline Village looked to still be in operation. Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Sierra at Tahoe are all closed.

I was in the Eastern Sierras last week. Tioga and Sonora pass closed. White Mtns / Bristlecones closed. Spectacular views of the Sierras and the White Mountains. Light snow flurries in Bodie, Hot Creek and Bishop Creek. Lake Sabrina was literally empty. Presumably for the massive melt off to come.

Sonora and Ebbests are open as of a few days ago.

Still a eight to ten foot snow bank on the side of the road at Sonora Pass.

It's great to see the totals this year. Should make for some good wakeboarding/wakesurfing :taco:

I was above me over 6 miles up the FS road cutting firewood, truck kept swerving over into any snowbank along the road, don't know what caused it, something a teenager or 20 something might have issues controlling. :)
