I bought the OEM bed mat and wish the hell I'd bought an aftermarket like I've had in the past 3 trucks I've owned.

The way Toyota has the grooves or what ever you call them is a bitch to clean out.

This is what I wish I'd bought.

    Instead of this.

I recommend the OEM bed. I put grocery bags in the back without them sliding to the front.

One of the reasons i decided to pay dealer prices and get the OEM - besides the fact it was only $20 more and seemed higher quality -- is: those two cutouts on the bottom corners allow the existing d-rings to be exposed and used.

I have another question.....the soft oem tonneau cover uses two release handles to keep the thing in place. They utilize the nice tacoma rail system. When attempting to open (release) one side, the tension is overwhelming, I can barely pull the handle down using both arms. I noticed an internal nut and bolt, is this a tension control?

It would have been prudent for me to get a manual from the dealership, but they have been tight lipped re identification of the oem manufacturer.

That’s not actually an OEM item, it’s a port installed option. When it wears out, go solid like an Extang Solid Fold or Bakflip. They hold up to weather well and are much harder to break into.

Picked up a heavy duty bed mat by DeeZee...the Toyota mat was on back order.
