I think you’ll be alright. 4wd while aired down to around 12-14psi, and keep up momentum. When getting started from a dead stop, ease into the throttle and once you get rolling you can accelerate more.

The biggest surprise for me with sand driving was how hot your trans fluid can get when you are driving through the very loose soft stuff. Airing down not only prevents you from getting stuck, it also makes it easier on the trans.

Got the blackout kit on

 

Took my Excursion out on the 4x4 beach in Corolla several times. Never aired down and once forgot to lock my front hubs so was not actually in 4WD. Biggest thing is driving smart. Ease into the throttle and just like snow, if you are moving, hold what you got. More throttle may make you sink instead of go faster. Look well ahead and plan your route and where you are stopping to avoid the softest stuff. If you are not moving, don’t give it more gas so you don’t bury it.

Shovel, board to put under a jack, tow strap and Maxxtrax or knock offs for recovering if you get stuck. But driving smart will keep you from needing any of it.

 

So, thanks to @Rome604 I am in possession of a Meso Customs minimalist key fob in red (thanks, Dave!). Problem is, I realize now after I have it that I am not going to use it. It is what it is...anyway, first $20 takes it (I paid $30).

Talking motor scooters. I have been eyeballing the Ural for every bit of 5 years now. of course I'd have to go with the two wheel drive. But in reality, it'd be another DRZ or KLR. the KLR while they can still be found.

 

I see quite a few KLRs new and used for decent prices. I'm always tempted to go grab one, but then I see my child's tuition bill. Shame this is the last year for it. I hope whatever they replace it with is just as bullet proof.
