I know this isnt going in a Tacoma and I'm not really doing this for sound quality. But I have an 82 el camino that's painted black. In the summer it's pretty warm to ride in even with the a/c up and windows tinted. I'v taken the headliner out this week to get it recovered and bought some frost king stick on insulation to put on the roof. Should I have the stuff stuck on the roof so the foil is facing down towards me or should I stick it on the headliner so the foil is facing the roof?
Also considering getting some reflectix foil lined bubble wrap to go up there, and if it works good doing the floor, doors and backwall. And maybe eventually my Tacoma.
I'm open to other ideas but not looking to spend over $200 to do the whole interior.

IIRC Frost King comes with a warning not to use it in an automotive environment. I don't know if it's because of offgassing or what, but I figured there was a reason they exclude that market. Otherwise why would they intentionally discourage sales? I'm personally using neoprene and it works great (the stuff lots of beer koozies are made of). I'm using it with mass loaded vinyl, so that may make a difference, but the cabin keeps a more uniform temperature and the HVAC sees reduce demand.

Get some lizard skin or acoust-x spray on stuff.

I have some in my 1973 challenger and its great.

You need a compressor and a bed liner gun to spray it, but its a thermal/acoustic barrier. With stick on stuff, it can fall down and sit on your headliner.

Never though about the neoprene that's a good idea and probably could buy a roll pretty cheap.
It already has some kind of mass type stuff stuck to the ceiling from the factory but I think it's just some kind of extra heavy cardboard. I'm not to worried about road noise from the roof because it's got an old whiney 4 speed in it with a bigger cam and loud exhaust so while its quiet for an older car like that it's still gonna rumble some no matter what.

I've looked at the lizard skin before and it looks like good stuff but I only have about 10% of the interior out right now and I'd rather not remove the rest to put spray on stuff inside.

Ah, yeah it's best to use before interior goes in.

Also since I have a whole my car gets to hot thread started. Does the floor board on the passenger side of your tacomas get hot after longer than a 30 minute drive? I was thinking of getting some reflective tape and putting on the bottom of the cab where the exhaust and converter is. I thought about heat wrap like people use on headers and put on the just the exhaust pipe but I dont want to put it on the catalytic converter because I think it might get to hot. I also think most of the heat is from the converter. It still has all the factory hear shields.
    Anybody have other suggestions
