Four years will be here before you know it. What type of work do you do? I'm sure you have already informed @SRH ;) but I don't have time to go back through 1,974 pages to find it.

I work at General Mills in Hannibal Missouri. I’m a green room operator which basically means I take care of the food waste and recycling. I like the job but, it seems like nobody wants to work anymore and nobody gives a fuck. Our facility has grown a lot in the last 10 years and the quality of people they’re hiring nowadays is painfully pathetic and I’m fucking tired of dealing with it.

Your frustration is understandable. The workforce these days is pathetic. People have been taught to have an entitlement attitude. They expect everything to be handed to them without having to pay the price of working for it. Pretty sad state...

For sure!! I used to get somewhat depressed on the whole aging thing. Now I’m glad I’m where I’m at, 60 later this month. The fact is I really don’t want to see where this country is in 30-40 years.

I can only answer for myself. I’m old and have exactly 0 expectations. I’ve learned to live moments at a time. To take joy from the little things in my everyday life. Because really, that’s all there is. The big events like having a child or getting married or getting a job promotion are fairly rare. But smiles and chuckles can be found pretty often if you look for them.

Even on a crappy day your view is great.
I have sleep medicine. 80 proof.

Adopt me. I’ll be content with University Of New Mexico.

Some see it as a pathetic work force, others recognize the labor revolution. Companies are blaming it on "unqualified", "unwilling" potential employees, while those potential employees were spoon fed bullshit about college degrees. They didnt develop an entitlement mindset, they were promised it.

"Go to college, get a degree so you get a good paying job!"

For jobs that DONT require a degree, it is actually a much simpler concept than most want to admit.

INFLATION IS OUTPACING WAGES THAT HAVE BEEN STAGNANT FOR DECADES.

You can hear it straight from the companies that have been hiring in at the same wages for decades.

Listen....I dont bust my ass in construction or in a factory....but when the local factories are topping out at $20 an hour....that is shit pay. $40k/year doesn't cover much.

Gary V says it best. "If you want your employees to work as hard as the CEO, pay em like you pay the CEO."

Point well taken. I agree that wages need to keep up with inflation. However, I stand by my words about the state of the prevailing attitude held by much of the current workforce. I know there are those who are willing to work hard and pay their dues, but that is becoming more of an exception recently.

Well that falls under necessary school supplies. I think it’s tax deductible.

That reminds me of a chuckle I got one day. I was driving past Walgreens and they had a sign up advertising “Stock up on school supplies” Directly over their electronic sign advertising “Budweiser 12 packs $10.99”
