    Hi all,

Last year I ordered a Leer 180 shell for my Tacoma. I got almost all the bells and whistles but didn't put a set of roofracks on it. Instant regret! I'm considering adding a set, just on the cap. Questions to you all:

    1) What brand/style do you recommend?

    2) Tips on install to make it waterproof? We use the cap for camping, and this honestly is my biggest fear: that we install the roofracks and the cap leaks eternally.

    3) What do you use your roofracks for? I'm pretty convinced, but curious to see what different uses everyone comes up with. I'm thinking water storage, gear storage, kayak transportation ... oh the possibilities!

    Thanks in advance :)

Look in the upper right corner and there's a search box, you can even select this forum only. There are lots of threads on these exact subjects.

I use a set of Thules that I’ve had for about 25 years, bomb proof! Started out as ski racks on the be rabbit I had in college, outlasted 5 cars and trucks from 92 to present!!!
Got a set of Thule fake rain gutters to mount them to, easy peasy

Reach out to the shop you ordered the shell from. Have them order and install Thule tracks and it will be covered under warranty. Anything happens is their fault. Similarly, they have installed a ton and are "experts" when it comes to the install.

Anybody know what brand and/or how strong the oem 3rd Gen Toyota 4Runner racks are?

Im thinking about going to a junkyard to pull some off and installing into my snug top cap.
