I plan on buying a travel trailer this weekend. The Problem is that my payload rating is 1000 lbs. with four people plus the tongue weight of around 400 payload is right around 1000 maybe even over 50 pounds or so. My question is how many of you have maxed out payload while towing trailers? Any issues? everything is stock. I know it isnt good practice to go over rating, but would I be safe maxing out or even going over a bit?

When i travel with my camper and full truck and 4 in the cab and cooler and gear in back / bla bla bla. Im at max or a bit over, the only thing i added was sumo springs to not squat as must.
last summer almost 5000 miles in 2 weeks, road fine.
i think you could go 1 1/3 times over and be ok .
    I have a 16 sport 4x4 double cab also

Camper is a pop up so its not like I'm pulling a wind sail. Camper is somewhere between 2000lbs and 2500lbs loaded / tongue is 200 or so but the family is all grown up so the cab is full / maybe 700~725 with all the stuff we pack in the cab / back/ tonneau cover/big 94tq cooler-ice drinks food 150lbs/"gear /clothes/chairs/tools/" a few hundred ? 75~150 lbs. i keep thinking i want to jump on a scale one day but it won't change what a carry anyways.

i know there are people that pull way more than me with a loaded cab/ some add better spring/air bags/and go 500 lbs over or more
Just don't go nuts and 85mph
