Aftermarket Audio options for 2008 Taco?

    Hi everyone! New and want to jump right in with a bunch of questions (I know people hate that but I'm just excited to get some new tech asap!)

    I have a 2008 Tacoma that I was hoping would have a simple solution (like usb or bluetooth installed) to play music from my phone onto the factory unit, but alas it appears this is not possible.

    Apparently only an AUX can be added on 2008 Tacos. More and more phones these days are getting rid of their headphone jack (Samsung appears to be jumping on this ban-wagon with their upcoming Note10 series) so spending over $100 at Toyota for an AUX part seems like a bad idea in 2019.

    So the other option I was considering is aftermarket head units. I've seen some beauties out there that look like a Tesla dash with an awesome array of features, but I never see these on older Tacos? Can some of these newer screens not be installed on 2nd Gen Tacomas?

    Anyone here that have one of those universal head units on their Tacoma?
    Like the Idoing and Android?

    Would be awesome to get a confirmation,
    and additional insight is always welcome.
