Perhaps try adding bubble wrap to the dash bolster? Better yet, knee pads...

I’m sure there some people out there who move everyone’s seat, while working on their vehicles. I’m not very tall, so I’m some cases I’ve had trouble trying to drive some peoples vehicles in the shop. Some people’s seats are right up against the wheel and dash and others are the furthest away. Some people have the seat back, almost reclined against the rear seat. You’d be surprised how some people drive.

I always tried to not mess with people’s seats unless it was absolutely necessary. However majority of the work I did was under the dash and when I have to lay there I need the seat all the way back. So even if I didn’t move the seat driving it in, good chance I had to working on it. I rarely ever adjusted a seat back unless I had to do a road test or drive to a different location or was picking a customers vehicle up from their house or work. Sometimes just working around the drivers side dash, especially with vehicles with power seats you accidentally hit the adjuster and next thing you know the seat is fully reclined. Shit happens.

I remember I had one lady adamant about me not moving the seat. Before I even left the from of the shop I explained to her in order to do the job she wanted me to perform I had to move the seat. After about 20 min of going back and forth I told her I would try my best to mark the position and get it back to where she had it. What would you do is a spouse, your kids, friend etc needed to barrow your vehicle or use it in an emergency? I don’t understand someone freaking out about their seat being slightly moved. In fact I’ll bet if I slightly moved most people’s seats, they wouldn’t even notice.

Based on this thread and the constant whining about power seats, I have come to the conclusion that some of you have a serious problem with basic motor skills and simple mechanisms.

Sell your fucking tacomas and buy a bunch of these-016E45F1-1F7D-414B-BCC7-052D8E7E0970.jpg

Come back when you can represent our community better by not being a Nancy Campbell and when you’ve mastered the super hard art of adjusting your seat.

Would you rather they hit something instead of them adjusting the seat and mirrors . I think people need to just suck it up and stop acting like they own people just because they are paying for a service .

I would think that some one whos job includes driving can make it out of a parking lot without hitting everything. Sorry I expect people to know how to drive without running over everthing in the parking lot because the seat is not at their optimal position or the mirrors cause them to have to move their head 3 inches to see

Good God. I'm taking a break for a while .Have fun bitching about nothing and dissecting the most pointless and minute noises and inconveniences.

By the way I'm a dealership collision tech .
I'm going to move all the seats forward. Deal with it.

Personally, it absolutely infuriates me when my wife leaves the toilet seat down. The nerve of some people.

Put the lid down. If you have to lift up the seat, then she should have to lift the lid :)

Next time the OP should teach those mother fuckers son of bitches assholes a lesson and drive the truck to the dealer WITHOUT the driver seat. That would set them right.

The current Tacoma owner demographic has changed from the independent, free thinking, self reliant, taking full responsibility, bare-bones loving utility vehicle enthusiast to what it is NOW, which are mostly ex Hyundai Elantra owners who organize their condiments in the fridge alphabetically and have lost the physical ability of a capable
Human being due to sitting behind a desk all day. This is why.

Also, see the post below yours. Perfect example.

My intentions for this post was merely to remind individuals to check their seat position after having their vehicle serviced. I had a painful reminder of this last week when I had my truck serviced. It was an accident. Plan and simple. For all those who have never had a personal accident I truly applaud you.

When I was working as a tech i can tell you I only adjust the seat depth so that I can comfortably drive the car or truck.. especially when doing a test drive for any issues (steering, braking, handling, vibrations, noises, smooth power delivery or not, transmision shifting (or not). I would try to leave everything else int he car alone.. I figure the driver of the car/truck will know their seat setting will be off, and adjust accordingly, or press their seat memory button..
