    Hey Guys,

I wanna know how to get more power on hill in my 07 5 speed Tacoma access cab

Its great on the flat but In the Virgin Islands it boggs down on my hills unless i hit it real hard.

    Any Suggestions?

What motor do you have? The v6 has a supercharger option. That wakes things up nicely. It does cost $ though.

Regear is probably the best option.
Unless you can afford a V6. I mean that in a nice way.

Spray, turbo, blower, V6... unless you're gonna figure out a real power adder, don't throw money at trying to make a 4-banger in a truck more powerful. Hundreds if not thousands of bucks in bolt-on stuff will do nothing or next to nothing. I put an electric fan and intake on my 3RZ mostly for the MPG gains (and I just can't leave well enough alone) and an exhaust partly for the MPG and partly cuz stock sounds boring. It got decent mileage (usually 16 in mixed driving on 32s) and had surprisingly decent pep empty for weighing close to 4500lb, but it still had no ass until almost 3k RPM. I doubt it was really, truly *worth* the money objectively.

I wouldn't regear with a manual, unless you're having to climb hills in 2nd and it's not enough, or you have to downshift from 5th under all but the most ideal conditions. That's a decent chunk of money (to do both diffs, lest 4WD be all but unusable) to not gain any power. Going from 4.10s to 4.56s puts you at ~3300 rpm doing 45 in 3rd instead of 3000 rpm. Just wind it out more, it's free.

Downshift. My old 2.7 would go up big hills at 75 mph in 4th with no problem.

I certainly never dyno'd my 1st gen as all the stuff I did was for S&G and hoping to gain back some mileage lost with heavy bumpers & tires. The electric fan had some butt-dyno effect especially in the lower range (say, 2k-3500rpm) but I dunno how much it actually gained. An intake... meh, maybe a hair. The exhaust? Nope, just sound. Beyond that you're just about into internal mods, and it's already set up for good power (relative to its size) in the RPM range you'd want to be in.

In other news, what are you doing that you can only hold 1st gear? Is this like an actual road, or a bumpy offroad mess that you can't hold enough speed on to keep the RPMs high enough in 2nd? I moved cross-country with mine, towing a 3500lb U-haul trailer, total on the scale was 9500lb... it was a total dog on hills, but even with all that I climbed to the continental divide on I-80 wound the hell out in 2nd gear, doing about 45 on the shoulder.

Don't be afraid of the revs, you're not gonna hurt it, is what I'm saying.

Its a steep hill with some asphalt bumps and has alot of winding turns.

Other people I visit here is alot of bumps and hairpins going uphill.

I can hit it in 2nd but i gottah hit it fast with no one in-front of me. No fear of the revs just need the power to climb with a load.

Downshift, not high gears. Get your engine close to the torque peak of ~4000 RPM.
