Here’s the latest on my login issues. After some back and forth with @tcBob, I can now navigate from thread to thread without having to login every time as long as I stay in the site. However when I try to access TW through an email alert then it makes me login, Will do some more troubleshooting tomorrow.

Every website usually uses cookies. Not entirely sure how or why they are needed but they are.

On a serious note, who knows what may happen between now and then?

Even assuming nothing is done and the trust fund runs out...
...Social Security would continue on a current receipts basis with reduced benefits.
It's politically impossible for it to be otherwise.

But I have faith in this country.
Problems accumulate and fester, a crisis eventually comes...and is resolved.
Every so often (but not very often) there's a major re-alignment.

    I'm thinking of these generations:

-The Revolutionary War and the ratification of the Constitution.
-The Civil War. A more effective central government ensues, and the South accepts the verdict. Remarkable, perhaps unique, after such a hard fought war.
-Populism and the Trust Busting reforms of Teddy Roosevelt after the excesses of the Gilded Age.
-The Great Depression, social reforms, and WW II.
-Cold War over-reach in Vietnam repudiated. (Cold War continues at a lower intensity and is eventually won).

So here we are. Our Cold War era institutions have seen no serious reforms for quite a while.
Which may be a good thing, for now. Reforms without broad consensus and support are usually bad.
Better to muddle along than have bad reforms.

Anyway, and as I half-jokingly tell my wife:
"I'll probably be safely dead before that happens". :burp:

It's my not-so-educated opinion that politicians are, and should be, scared to touch Social Security. There are a lot of older voters in this country that would tear them a new one. Not to mention that SS is not an entitlement. It's insurance that we, the taxpayers pay for all our working lives without having a choice in the matter. They have squandered the money on useless pork barrel politics, building a nuclear arsenal we'll hopefully never use, exploration and studies of space, and ...I better shut up now before this gets really political. God bless America! :oldglory:
