mechanics are stupid and useless. you take something in with a problem and they never figure stuff out. you basicly have to diagnose the problem yourself and tell them what to do.

Easy to check yourself and i would not trust the stealership to do it.

Make it even easier when doing it yourself and add a quart of ATF before you start. Just let any excess fluid run out after you reach temp and pull the check plug.

I checked my 2016 using the procedure mentioned here. Mine was about a third of a quart low. Didn’t notice any difference after topping it off. I don’t think being a little low makes a difference in the long run. I’m not checking the 2019 I just purchased.

This morning I felt a very noticeable vibration coming from the engine/transmission when I was cruising at 80 MPH on the freeway. This wasn’t the same slight driveline shudder I've been getting between 10-30 MPH —which I’ve been ignoring.

My first thought was the new wheels are not properly balanced. But it didn’t feel like a typical out of balance wheel dull shake; this was a much faster, continued vibration, accompanied by a harsh mechanical sound coming through the driveline when the truck did 75+ MPH.

I’ve been reading of other forum members having all sort of driveline issues with their brand new Tacomas. I try not to let it get to me.

But the more I drive this truck, the more weird shudders, vibrations and engine/transmission noises it makes. Then I find how absurdly ridiculous it is to do a simple transmission fluid level check. Now I have to wonder what I got myself into buying this truck.

My Tacoma doesn’t even have 1,500 miles, so it's not due for a scheduled service visit for a while. But I may have to bite the bullet and start taking it in to the dealer if for other reason to have these issues documented.

    Not my idea of fun.

Seems like the service writers might not be the only stupid persons touching your truck.....
