Torch Offroad 1.5" AAL anyone use it?

So I have 5100s on all four corners(front set at 1.75),stock coils, and tsb leaf pack.
As it sits it's almost too level.
I decided to give these https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-5-2-Rear-Add-A-Leaf-Lift-Kit-for-1995-2019-Toyota-Tacoma-4X4-2WD-TRD-SR5/123787055552?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 a shot and ordered them yesterday. Thinking about adding .75" spacers up front https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...-up/front-lifts-2/front-top-plate-spacer-kit/ to get a total of 2.5" as I don't have the funds for new UCA atm.
Thoughts?

 

No to all of it. single leaf AAL is just going to cause more axle wrap problems, and a spacer up front on already lifted... cmon man, an no UCA's, i run aftermarket ucas on my truck at 1.75in.

 

Yeah I'll probably just hold off on the front util I get some 885s and set them a 0. As for the AAL, its already in the mail

 

Eventually, you’ll want to replace it w full aftermarket leaf pack as the AAL is just a bandaid.

 

I've been curious why AAL's aren't liked here. I know they're not the most ideal set up. Do they settle over time and lose their lift or is it ride quality?

 

As a person who has ran a 2in single AAL on a stock 3+1 pack, i can tell you it will increase your axle wrap to NASTY levels. If you want to run an AAL, a progressive AAL will be better, as there is more spring thickness to support axle wrap

I'm 2wd not 4wd which is probably the difference.

 

Axle wrap has nothing to do with having a 2WD or 4WD.

 

@Jacked Burton, Thanks for the heads up and the pics. Installed mine last weekend and they are solid. Bilstein 5100’s on all four corners front on highest setting and torch AAL No change in ride quality as far as I can tell....it’s a truck, rides like a truck. Here’s mine. Thanks again

 

So after a little over a month of using the add a leaf torch off road set up have you had and issues or complaints? I need a solid inch or inch and a half to get mine level or just a hair higher in the rear.

 

Jdtaco12, No issues at all. Once settled I am at 1-1/2” increase in the rear. I have bilstein 5100 front and rear with the front on the highest setting. Rear is slightly higher than the front but very minimal after it settled. I have made several mid range trips (200-300 miles) and the ride quality hasn’t changed from stock as far as I can tell. Very pleased with them.

 

How’s the add a leaf Torch after 9 months riding on them?

I bought the torch AAL, I just went off the reviews on Amazon and took a chance. So far it’s great, it gave me a 1.5” of lift. But I’m only a week into having on my truck.

 

How much lift did you get with the torch in the back? I’m planning to do the same thing. 5100s all the way around then torch in the back. Trying to decide what setting to set in the front clip. I want to keep the rake but go up a bit to fit some 265/70r17 with -12 offset wheels.

 

I had this AAL for awhile w/ the TSB pack on my 2008. Honestly save the money and buy a Dakar pack. Well worth it if you’re towing, plus ride quality is a whole helluva lot better with the OME. Just my $.02.

The Torch is just a bandaid, but it will get you there if you’re not going off the pavement much. Axle wraps very noticeable, if you know what It feels like too.

 

I have AAL, spacers, and 5100's.
It rides like garbage.
I did it for quick cheap lift.
It is probably literally the worst you can do. Spacers have no additional compression, 5100's are a cheapshit bottom of the barrel shock, and AAL slides a cheap piece of metal into a cheapshit factory 3 leaf pack.

I dunno. Maybe you personally like, enjoy, and prefer ride quality to be garbage. Everyone is different.

IDK what a good leafpack for the rear is. I hear Icon RXT is the best and better than anything OME has to offer.
I'm not sure if the current weight of the truck makes a difference. It's usually configured as steel rear bumper but with no other weight-adders like bed rack + RTT or hardshell that leafpacks seem designed for

 

Can someone explain how an AAL causes more axle wrap? I have 2016 socks with icon progressive AAL and it seems fine to me. I do dance the rear end around on washboard roads if I don't air down or hit 4wd, but otherwise it seems fine to me.

 

TBH brother, I think these dudes are full of crap. Axle-wrap would not be increased by strengthening a leaf pack. It makes no sense that a stronger pack of leafs would let the axle wrap more. Just like always, a lot of talk on here and not a lot of brain. These trucks already have a lot of wrap stock.
