Just be thankful you got real oil.... a lot of people use the motor oil and then fill with cooking oil and return it. They also do this with the cooking oil, buy it, use it, put back in jug and return.

How do you return a opened container. I would never put oil in my truck where the seals were already broken

Like draining their transmission instead of their oil?

1.8oz is practically negligible when talking about ~6 qts. I can't see how that would be obviously 'low' on a dipstick reading. Unless I'm misunderstanding the post.

Agreed. Unless you're tweaking your ass off & measuring the oil level w/ a caliper. Even then, I don't think you'd be able to tell.

I don't have a Taco dipstick in front of me right now, but if the difference between the full and add mark is 1 quart, and they're 1" apart, then 1.8oz is less than 1/16". If you can see 1/16" off, on freshly changed oil, I'm impressed. BTW, 1.8 oz is probably the difference between waiting 10 minutes for the oil to drain back to the pan, and waiting overnight.

Probably not, I mean the dipstick isn't even designed for anywhere near that level of accuracy as is

Wife's car only takes 4 qts. 1.8 oz is about 1/8 of the dipstick. After doing multiple oil changes I can tell when something is different.

Just because the jug is different has nothing to do with any of this.

Your wife’s car takes 4qts, so you use ONE gallon of oil

The irony is that, that jug of super tech may have been made by Exxon/Mobile. There are supposedly 3 oil companies that are contracted to produce super tech.

Warren, Exxon/Mobile and Shell. Shell owns Pennzoil and Quaker State.

I still can't see how 1.8oz low (less than a shot glass) can even be significant with 4qts or a gallon

I wouldn't even worry if my diff was 1.8oz low, not that you'd really be able to tell even with that.

You can return anything today. I saw some street person return half eaten sub sandwich. Said it was bad, and they gave him a full refund right in front of me. Welcome to Walmart.

Hopefully they didn't turn around sell the half eaten sandwich though lol

It's a conspiracy to kill your engine 1.8oz of oil at a time so they can sell more new cars
