Fair enough. I didn’t know of the dual OD. As I’ve mentioned a few times now.. it’s all stuff that was mentioned to me when I was shopping around and I’m simply extending the info for what it’s worth. :hattip:

I've had Nitro 4.88 in my 17 TRD offroad Auto now for about 5 weeks. Just got back from a 1400 mile road trip over IKE gauntlet with 3-4 guys and 4 backpacks, camping equipment and camera equipment. The truck is so much happier. I've got 33-inch skinnies and also run the OV tune. The thing that surprised me is how much easier the truck handles 80mph plus in Utah. I was able to set the cruise at 82 and it actually used 5th and 6th gear with 4 guys and gear. Never would have done that before. Truck handled long grades much better and 4x4 low and high was awesome. Yes it still needed 4th a few times on the big grades but that is loaded and at high altitude. Just got 382 (adjusted) miles on the last tank and filled with 19.4 gallons which work out to 19.7 mpg. I'm happy. If I was adding a ton of weight and 35-inch tires yes, I would go 5.29 but for me, 4.88 is awesome. The best mod I've done.

I never understood this logic, I'm curious to learn what the rationale is. In my mind, I bought the Tacoma because I feel it's reliable with or without a regear.

Additionally, even at 60,001 miles, if I were to then regear, and powertrain die, does it suck less than if it died at 59k?

Not trying to be critical, just don't understand the logic. If I believe any mod will cause damage, then I won't do the mod regardless of warranty status. And vice versa.

Well that’s fine and good but not all of us have the money to fix something if it breaks.. so that buffer while that safety net still is in effect is helpful

Obviously everyone will have different opinions and are in different financials situations but I firmly believe that if you can’t afford to fix your truck then you can’t afford to mod it.
