I think I have decided jumps probably aren’t the best for a double cab extended bed tacoma lol. I’ll probably just build something else for that and just continue using this for fun off-road stuff. As much as I wanna jump stuff I’ll have to wait

Just start small. You shouldn't be hucking it off dunes when you first start out anyway. But taking a water bar at some decent speed here and there should be fine. Eventually, your confidence and driving skill will surpass the capability of the shocks and suspension, but starting out you should be fine.

Come to any conclusions yet? I just went with the Old Man Emu (OME) 2" nitrocharger kit and I've been very pleased. No need to get UCAs and you can get a full kit delivered with Dakars for a little over $1k.

I'd obviously like Kings or ADS but I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with the maintenance involved in having them serviced every 30k miles, or however often you need to since this is my DD.

That's partly why I went with the 5100s when my taco was a daily driver. That, and it was hard to justify spending $3-4k on suspension for something that spent most of the time on the road going to work. I always babied the truck offroad because I needed it in one piece to get to work the next day.

As a dedicated trail truck now, it doesn't see nearly as many miles, harder, but fewer miles.

Well, I realized the guy I got the truck from gave me Bilstein 5100’s and didn’t realize it they were in a different box so I wasn’t sure what they were dumb on my part. So I’m going to try a set up that I saw was pretty common (it seems). I’ve got the 5100’s, I got some ome springs for the front that will work for my truck (double cab extended bed) and then I’m gonna do Dakar leaf springs then probably some other stuff, while I save for something I really want.

Don’t jump that truck unless you get factory backing for repairs.

I figured the extended bed probably wouldn’t like that much... haha but an older, single cab Tacoma might be prospect in the future.
