Does anyone have the exact outside width of the tent (I imagine the regular size camper is the same as the RTT)? I ordered one a few months back and I’m trying to fabricate mounting brackets before it arrives. I’ve had no luck in contacting GFC to get the measurements.

Finally got a replacement tent shipped to me, the material is vastly different from the first run. Now just waiting for the new hinge...

On the vent issue, my thermo sensor has shown that the GFC is 20-30 degrees F higher than outside temps. It was 81F the other day, and the temp inside the GFC reached 110. I am for sure putting at least one marine vent in soon with intake/exhaust. If it’s not enough I can just make it bigger and go with a full fan setup.

What are you using for your 'thermo sensor'. I like the looks of that readout. I've got a cheapie outdoor thermometer with a readout in the truck so I can keep track of the temp for the dog. But your system looks like it might be more interesting....

What was your replacement tent meant to fix? I'm in the same boat as you, waiting for a tent and a new tube, but I am waiting for the front. I haven't opened up my hinge yet.

SensorPush, it stores a lot of data and will have multiple uses after giving me data without/with vents on the GFC!

My tent came to me without the upper front snaps put on, and I was instructed to take off the lower snaps in order to put the top snaps on. In doing so I had a couple snaps that wouldn't pull off, and the material around them ripped. The unsnapped uppers were letting in a ton of dust and water. I had the old tent too, so hopefully this new one is easy to put on and take off. What's up with your tent?

Nothing wrong with my tent, I have just been envious of side door access since it was announced. I was too early in the queue for it to be an option. Now with my awning and other accessories it would make life a lot easier with side access instead of always relying on going through the bed.

Got my new rack from @gmartin284. It lines up perfect with the camper.

Got the hinge and rivets in the mail today, was I naive for thinking it would be unrolled/straightened!?

Now to get all 51 rivets out and then in by hand...

I can't remember the exact amount. This is the second set of side pieces he has made. The first set fit but weren't perfect so I sent him some measurements and pictures and this is the end result.

Big thanks for the idea!, closing is sooo much easier and faster. I started with paracord, but was a bit irritating on the fingers. Ended up cutting the hook off a cheap ratchet strap. —much much easier on the hands. Additional length and loops allow me to pull down the tent while standing on the ground, then the upper loops become “foot loops”.

I was wondering about that also. They feel pretty sturdy. They are 12ga steel. I’m no engineer, so if any of you think that’s not enough, please let me know!

    I like the design.

I share the concern about how strong the attachment is. Especially since wind will be underneath it. For heat and panel performance it is better to have the panel with air under it. At highway speed air under it worries me.

Picked up my GFC #234 last Monday.
Finally got it home to do a few little mods that I pre-planned.
Ran wiring down the drivers side of the truck underneath.

Installed a blue sea panel with on/off switch, volt meter and two 12v outlets to run my Dometic CFX28 fridge and to plug a small fan in, in the tent for those warmer nights.

Purchased a Rago Fab Rock Light Mount and installed a Baja Designs Dome Light w/switch on the drivers side. Not sure it will stay there but it gives off enough light for cooking.

Last but not least I installed a Baja Designs rear/dust light to the lower rear extrusion. You can see in the photos how I ran my wiring. This light is ran off a switch pro switch in the cab.
The 12v outlets/Baja light do not connect to the switch pro but rather a blue sea fuse block under the hood so I can turn them on/off anytime if the truck is not running.

I’m not too concerned about keeping my bed 100% water tight so i added zipties around the frame to hold the wiring in place like the older GFC models.
They install some crappy sticky wire holds on the new models now to make sure the rear door gasket has a clean seal to the frame for all of you allergic to water.

Also added a few other things stolen from the threads like, cargo net, levels and a bungee strap for a paper towel holder.

I’m having the rear window tinted later on this week. Also have a couple backseat organizer seat back panel things I ordered on Amazon coming. I’m going to try to mount those on the cab side on either side of the window to help store basic camping gear and bug spray, haha.

You could use that piece to do a test cut with a hole saw. The sides of that cut could be sealed with a sealant or PVC pipe.
Here's another option for a vent. No wiring needed. Doesn't move much air though. You'd leave it on 24/7, Nice low profile.

I can not wait for someone to figure out a fan solution. I’m to afraid to take the first leap...

Side note; I got my camper back. I won’t be able to tell if my issues were fixed until we get some good rain.
I got a full HD ome lift done at Wanderlust Overland in Oregon city, Oregon today.
The ride is nice and it brought my back end back up.

Installed all my storage, solar, and fridge as well.

I use a Thule storage box during snowboard season and on longer trips. I decided to mount the solar all the way near the tailgate so that it will not be covered when the Thule is on.

Going to go see if I can’t find some summer steelhead or chinook up in the Olympic peninsula and will be excited to put the new suspension and living quarters to the test.
