Brand new Tacoma, new member, need help making over lander

Hi everyone,
I'm happy to be part of the forum.
I just got a new 19' off road long bed quad cab Taco.
I had a 06' access cab 4banger for 13 years and absolutely loved it, but family got bigger and more gear, so went ahead and got a quad cab long bed with v6. Had it one day and already love it. WAY more power. I wish I could've got a LB quad with manual, but apparently LB only comes with auto. So I'm getting used to the Auto, but still instinctively putting my left leg down. ha ha

Mainly looking to get help building my new taco into a capable over lander. Not hard core, but capable. Call it medium over lander.
I know lots of mods I want to do, but not sure which ones first.
I want at least 33's, but maybe 34's or 35's
I've seen if you want that big of tire, you need to switch to 529 gears.
So I'm wondering if I should do suspension, wheels tires and then gears or gears first, then suspension wheels and tires. I don't have the $ to do all at once.
Anyway, just getting used to the site and probably need to start a new thread somewhere else.

thanks for the info. 80% of the trails sounds good to me. I just see all these killer tacos with bad ass tires and lot of them say it shreds the engine and gas milage because the engine has to rev so high. I'd be happy with 285s and lift. I definitely want some bigger tires and wheels. think i'll start with that first, but everyone here seems to know a lot more about this stuff and i could use the help. maybe i'll be hitting the other 20% of the trails before ya know it.

 

I think you’d be surprised by the stock tire size and what it can do. I wouldn’t start throwing money at it until you find yourself actually needing it. My old first gen on 31”s made it through crazy stuff most people wouldn’t even try.

 

the dealer had a sweet lifted taco sport, but i didn't want the sport and when i looked at the cost, it was $4,500 extra! NOPE. (hope to do lift wheel/tires for 3K at worst)--am I crazy?
I like the wheels it came with and the tires look pretty good as well. I'm probably getting way ahead of myself. Also, don't want to just get rid of the stock wheels and tires. Still, I figure I could get some better tires for about 1K. does anyone ever get $ for the new "used" tires that came off the new truck?

 

smart move can get a much better lift for cheaper
