    Nope, it's something you can elect for when you're initially working with the recruiter. I believe you just have to ask for it, I don't believe there are any prerequisites.

    Came to the doctor in Mexico to see what's up with my eye. Dude just glanced at it and made his diagnosis. Consultation was $45 pesos, and $600 for 2 bottles of eye drops, 2 bottles of pills that'll last me 2 weeks, and 3 shots plus syringes.

    If you do elect for that, you can ONLY get it in your original enlistment contact. It has to be specifically written. Word-of-mouth has no meaning federally.

    It has to be in your enlistment contact, otherwise you don't get the bonus elective. Just enlisting gets you basic GI Bill, you have to have it written into your contract to get the bonus elective, and it nearly never happens. I didn't get it, but some people who thought they had it found out on ETS that it wasn't written into their contract in the correct manner, so no bonus GI for them.
