My first time on this site, and glad to have found it.

I was fuming at the company because of the "lock" on my spare tire lift. I had a flat in my driveway and could not lower the spare. With no instructions for the "key" I installed it incorrectly on the straight end of the three piece rod and there wasn't enough torque to turn the lock. When I first learned it was a lock, I expected it to drop away once turned. That's where this site saved my day, next day actually. A BIG THANK YOU!, to GPsevinSixx and mrkabc for photos that spoke volumes to me. With the "key" correctly installed and in the lock socket, I put a little CCW tension on the rod and tapped the end with a machinist hammer, then "pop" sounded as the gears turned and the wheel began to lower. THANK YOU LORD!

Now I have another question. The spare came down and I discovered a label on the rim saying either the rim or the tire was for temporary use, what's up with that?

OK! I did a search on this site again and, WHAM, Hx989, poster #586, from Oregon/Washington Craigslist Ads thread said," the only reason that is there is because there is no tire pressure sensor on the spare.

I can see joining this site will be beneficial.

    Thank you all.

I'm proud of you for searching and finding solutions rather than ranting about how horrid things are.

Or asking the same questions that are asked at least 10x per day.

You'll be a good addition here...........

    Welcome.
