Horn will not stop blaring on 2002 Tacoma after taking fuse out, and placing back in.

The clock spring is basically everything that's on your steering wheel that's electrical. airbag, CC, horn. So yeah, a bad spring could affect the CC too.

But back to an earlier post, methinks the PO had the fuse jimmied. The horn was probably going off, so in order to sell it, he may have pulled the fuse just enough so it *looks* connected but wasn't. Then when you reinstalled it you made full contact. I dunno, maybe...

When I pulled the fuse in the first place, it was fully seated just like the rest of them. I suppose that’s a possibility but I very highly doubt it as I would have noticed it was loose.

yeah, this is a weird one.

I take it your CC works? I don't know if the clock spring is an all or nothing thing, but if your CC isn't working, that would be a likely culprit.

Since the clock spring just completes a circuit to ground (afaik), I wonder if the relay (or somewhere else in the circuit) has a short to ground. Can you tell if the PO did any "custom" wiring anywhere?

There was an aftermarket alarm installed at one point what was later disabled by a mechanic because the work Order stated “alarm would not turn off”. I don’t think that would have any effect on the horn but I guess you never know. I would also assume the PO would notice that the horn no longer worked after they had completed that work

This is pretty common. Hopefully you can fully remove the alarm so the horn functions properly. Otherwise you can unhook the horn. But every time the battery dies or is unhooked and then reconnected the horn is going to scream.

Yeah, I hate alarms for that reason. I had a Viper on my old 4Runner that got all jacked up within like 3 or 4 years.

I dunno man, people can be pretty oblivious with their vehicles. I've seen people who post here about their 2 decade old truck and the frame is completely swiss cheesed (rust) and they're like "I just noticed this, is it bad?"

Maybe he never used his horn?

I guess you just have to start throwing a volt meter at it and see if you can trace the source of the issue. Electrical gremlins suck.

he already had the alarm removed before this issue cropped up.

The post said it was disabled, which usually meant that it wasn’t removed. Sometimes that works, other times it causes this issue.
