Given the choice of looking at a couple dents or looking at a crappy repair, I'll take the dents. Its a personal thing but I HATE looking at crappy repair work. It looks so much worse to me than the damage itself does.

Bondo isn't that bad TBH. It's got a bad rap, mainly from people using it when they don't know how to use it. Body plastic is on every car out there, Bondo is just an inexpensive brand. When I did a lot of body work on "nice" projects we used the primo stuff. When I work on off-road vehicles and simple projects I grab a can of bondo from walmart. I've never had it not stick. The prep and finish work is pretty much the same for the good stuff. And any brand of plastic will crack if you try to fill a 3" deep dent with it, which is what people tend to do.

That and just spread a bunch into the dent, don't shape or sand and then just spray paint on top of it. They seem to think that it's some kind of magic gel that just forms to a perfect panel all by itself.

Like I said, what you've got is fixable but it's not a super easy fix. Those dents are in bad locations and it's going to take some work and a bit of skill to make it right.

even less painful would be to just not worry about it and leave it as is.

Well, I guess the least physically painful idea... I'm sure I'd want to at least *try* to fix it... Maybe just hammer it out a little from the inside with a ball peen hammer, then sand it down and coat with some duplicolor rattle can spray... or at least clear coat it so it doesn't rust.

I have a shallow dent in the driver rocker panel just behind the door (thanks to a rock at Mengel Pass). :annoyed:

    2015026 Rocker Panel Dent 02 600 px.jpg

The dent depth = maybe an inch or less and the dent length = 8 inches. that I've been putting off repairing. A reliable shop quoted me around $1,400 to repair and repaint. :spending:

If I were to do the repair myself, what brand of "primo stuff" would you recommend?

Its totaled, time to part out. Ill take the wheels, tires, and blinkers.

Kidding but like other have said, I'd either live with it or pony up and have a shop fix it

I don't buy new and I don't like clean. That's something I'd live with and have.

Mengel pass going down was "interesting" as we had to put our drivers side side wall smack up against a rock wall to avoid the off camber issue there.
    What saved everyone was sliders...

    It's been a while but v I'd memory serves
We used "golden extra", bought it from a paint shop. You still want to pull that dent. Plastic should be i used as the finish, not the entire job.

If you are going to wheel it leave it. First dents always the most painful, they are easy after that.
What's the estimate to fix this:
