    This always make me angry.
    At the murderer, yes.
    I'm not interested in his motives, I just want him removed from society, permanently.

    ...for those who make excuses for criminals and seek to impede justice.
    And you know it'll be a long long time, if ever, before he gets his just reward.

    Humanitarians are always hypocrites.

    Humanitarians who did away with all public punishment.
    Because it's "cruel and unusual", and has no deterrent effect.

    As if visiting justice on a criminal is something so shameful it must be hidden away.
    (That's the way to eliminate deterrent effect alright.)
    Punishment is for the sake of the rest of us, not the criminal.
    To re-affirm public faith in the rule of law. Without that, where are we?

    Mind you, I'm not necessarily calling for bringing back the more ferocious public punishments of the past.
    But a public hanging now and then might not be a bad thing.

    Please forgive the rant.
