Wranglers are very cool and very capable in all sorts of off-road situations, but for me they suck at the same time, for many reasons...

So, I sold my beautiful 2015 JK and bought a couple of hours ago a 2019 white 4x4 OR long bed. It's a niiiiice ride...

Tomorrow morning I'll take it up to Big Bear on some trails. Nothing crazy, just to get an idea how it handles while it's still stock... Kind of a "welcome to the family, let's get to know each other" first day. Really excited about it.

I've owned 4 Wranglers. Liked them just fine, but they are toys, my trucks are tools. I needed a tool more than a toy. Doesn't mean I might be in a position to buy another toy one day.

Right on, they are toys. If I had the funds I would definitely have a Wrangler on the side, just because they are cool.

Once upon a time, when I was a hard core Jeeper, I would have said "they are perfectly fine vehicles!". No, they are not. Not anymore, not for me. They are perfectly fine for a few purposes, and pretty lousy for everything else.

A guy I was wheeling with would always tow his Jeep to the trail head. I couldn't understand why he would do that with a perfectly fine vehicle. Now I do!

    Welcome!

I feel the same about Wranglers. If I ever built a dedicated trail rig, I would definitely consider a Wrangler.

Ok, got back after 8 hours. It was a light day, but got an idea of how the Tacoma behaves off road. The trail wasn't difficult, but my ass was literally in the air a few times after driving over a series of ruts. It was fun.

The only negative I would have is the seat. My ass hurts after sitting in that seat for 8 hours (and it wasn't from bouncing). However, the entire driving experience was overall very positive. Can't wait to start modifying it and going out again.

I stopped on wider sections of the road to take some pictures. There was quite a lot of activity on that road today. Dozens and dozens of modified Wranglers driving around.

I checked them out, liked them and realized I don't miss my Wrangler a bit.

Still some snow on the peaks far in the distance.
