I have a 2006 sr5 4x4. I was wondering if it came stock with limited slip or a factory locker. Can somebody tell me more about it? It might be a stupid question but I'm still interested. Also, whats in the front?

if its a trd offroad.......you have the rear locker, trd sport...you have the lsd......if its just sr5, you have an open diff.

i see you have the sport...so you have the limited slip diff in the rear.

You don't have the locker - only the TRD Offroad trucks have the locker.

The LSD's were available as an option in most of the trucks.

If you look at your rear diff - if you see a white sticker with red letters that say "LSD OIL" on it, then you have the mechanical LSD.

The reason I asked was, it performed better than expected on a hill climb recentley. Its a TRD Sport. Is the locker better than a LSD?

For off roading, yes, far better.

But for street driving (which you will NEVER use the locker for) LSD is better.

    Lots.
In my opinion LSD is better. I am a minor off-roader so I want something good for the road. The locker doesn't do anything unless it is engaged which is basically only when you are off-roading.

Recently I was able to climb a hill off-road when the TRD off-road package truck was having trouble because it didn't have it's locker engaged. Once the locker was engaged however it had no problems with anything. The sports auto LSD kicked in my case to help me out.

I think the LSD is the way to go but the locker is definitely better for a frequent off-roader.

You didn't mention that you had a TRD Sport earlier....

But YES - you do have the mechanical LSD. All TRD Sports have 'em.

The TRD locker is better for more extreme offroading. The LSD is all-around better for combination street, snow, & mild/medium offroading.
