Manual transmission here and yeah, I noticed it after I got the truck- all three cup holders between the shifter and the seat console get warm. I wrapped some of that self adhesive foam insulation around the underside of them as best I could and it helps some.

Yes, I've noticed it as well.

If I put an insulated cup there, the bottom of it gets hot over a long drive. It's probably just due to proximity to the transmission/engine and lack of insulation right there.

I'm in Dallas and I haven't noticed my cup holders being scorching hot. I'm not sure if it is because my windows are tinted and that helps.

Well, I pulled up the center console and nothing out of the ordinary. I have an ultra gauge to watch the trans temp, it usually runs 150-180 on a summer day with an aftermarket TruCool trans cooler.

I guess I will order some peel and stick fiberglass off Amazon and cover the cup holders on the back side. My iced tea will thank me later...…..

Double check the integrity of heat shield as there are a few near the transmission tunnel/back of your firewall.

I found some of my heat shielding ripped off and have experienced WARM cup holders after a 1+ hour drive. Nothing scorching though.
