Interior Switch Lighting Question

So my dad wanted me to ask this about his 2008, and now that its back from frame replacement we can look into a possible fix. Anyways, none of the switches to the left of the steering column light up. Except the light on the bed outlet switch, and the one showing the diff lock has been engaged. Not being able to read the switches at night is annoying. So, are they supposed to illuminate?

All the switches in the rental turd gen illuminated at night. Made for a cool looking dash, and easy to read at night.

So I take it this means they are supposed to illuminate. Is it on only if the button has been activated? Or all the time as long as the headlights are on?

 

Depends which button you refer to. Most just illuminate with TAIL selected, not when pressed at all.
