i recently bought a used camper shell. It’s great, except for three patches of what looks like oxidization. The plastic film keeps peeling. Eventually I will sand and paint these spots, but is there anything else I can do for them, for now?

I put a coat of Wolfgang paint sealant on, but it doesn’t seem to stop the film from peeling

I'd tape it off and wet-sand the flaking edges. Then hit the masked area with some clear coat. Just to get you by until you can do a more thorough job.

This is what I did with the shell on my old truck. It worked fairly well and held up for about 2-3 years. At that point, the original clear coat started peeling and flaking around the perimeter of the repair. I touched it up a couple of times, but eventually just let it go because so much had peeled off that the spot fixes weren't practical.

I dont think that's plastic film, its clear coat. Needs to be sanded and resprayed. Probably color and clear.

I think he was thinking clear coat when he said plastic film? And he didn't really mean Xpel or ppf as we often refer to "plastic film".

No. Paint is failing. The whole cap needs to be repainted to fix it.
