just 400 miles for my 285/70/17, 300 of those on one trip. felt no difference than stock, and the noise on the road at 65 to 75 miles per hour was minimum, I could not tell that I had bigger nicer tires !!

Ordered a set of 265/75/16 RG's mounted on Method MR701's in bronze. Excited to get rid of the Cooper Discover AT3's. Never had good luck with AT3's. My dad has a set on his 1500 ram and they hum bad as do the ones that came on my truck.

Why the heck are the 265/75r16's in standard load so heavy? There are C load tires from other brands that are lighter.

Something to do with Nitto's sidewall construction?

I've called Nitto before asking the same thing and they told me the standard load in 265/75r16 is a 7 ply tire. C load is only 6 ply.

UPS just dropped these off today. Still have to replace bushings and balljoints on passenger side then in for an alignment. Got the drivers side on though. 265/75r16 on Method bronze 701's

I also prefer that sidewall out. Looks more aggressive IMO. Reminds me more of the trail grappler.

Wrangler I built a couple years ago for my wife.

295/75r16 Size will supposedly be released on 8/1.

I currently have 16k on my 265s and they have been the best tire I've ran for overall use. Thats comparing against, ST Maxx, K02, K0, Trail Grappler, AT3Ws. For street use the Ridge Grapplers and the AT3Ws are the best, with the Nitto being slightly better in the rain. The Ridge Grapplers are quieter than the rest and the C load has been very nice for daily use. I'll probably end up the the 295s when theyre released.

Unless someone steers me towards a different direction, I’ll be purchasing a set of Ridge Grapplers within the next few weeks in 285/70r17. I was on the fence of getting either the C load for comfort or E load since it’s my daily driver/work truck, I needed to know if the ride quality/comfort would be different since I was leaning towards C so I contacted Nitto. Let’s just say as @RobP62 stated, “there's absolutely no reason not to get the E load range” Looks like I’ll be going E and not C. Below is Nitto’s response:

Thank you for contacting Nitto Tire.

In regards to your question, both C and E load versions of the Ridge Grappler share the same construction which is why their weight is almost identical. The difference is how the plys are laid in the tire which allows for one to have a higher inflation pressure and load carrying capacity than the other. The ride quality should be the same for either given that they share the same construction. Air pressure is always key with ride comfort so ensure your tires are set to the proper PSI.

(NOTE: Although the email indicates a “noreply” email address, function for correspondence is available and photos or documents can also be added as attachments.)

    Thank you,

Hope this helps for those that are on the fence like me.

Yea, I mean, I am overdue for my 30k mile service by nearly 500 miles and that means the tires have about 28.5k miles on them and I swear they still look fantastic. They have gotten a tiny bit louder but nothing compared to other brands I have taken this far.

The Ridge Grappler, E range will definitely be my next tire when/if these wear out. I expect to get another 15k at least out of them though.

 Ok, that's better but hey, who am I to judge? I learn something new just about every day on here. 37 psi seems to be the sweet spot for most of us. Actually, I run 37 in the fronts and 36 in the rear unless I tow or have a heavy load. To compensate for the weight of the occupants, cab, engine, and armor vs an empty bed with just a Bak Revolver cover. Even though the sliders are wheel to wheel and all the skid are aluminum.

idk, none of this makes sense to me - why Nitto would go through the trouble of manufacturing a tire that has no use. I understand that they both use the same number of plys, but surely the C rated tire has a softer sidewall, and a softer ride.
