I’m also currently struggling with GI issues, seems like certain foods (primarily cheese / dairy) trigger it. Reading all the comments and suggestions on here has helped, I’m going to start eliminating things out to see if it improves my current issues.

So why do y’all compete if you need cocktails to compete and if genetics have so much play in it?

I did powerlifting in high school and loved it cause it proved I was strong. Strongest guy in my class actually.

What’s the drive behind competitive bodybuilding ? Just a hobby turned to a passion? Want to become famous one day by being the king? To help your personal training career?

So many of y’all seem to act like competitive bodybuilding sucks and I’m curious to why it is that way

I think it’s the fascination of being able to completely transform your body that turned into a passion and I wanted to compete to show my hard work. No one really does it for the money unless they’re so damn good they win big shows and get sponsored while having a good business model via social media, etc.

It totally did help personal training because you’re a walking billboard for your own knowledge. I still get asked to train people and I decline - I love fitness but trying to get certain people to follow a diet is like trying to get a motor past 100k miles without changing the oil - ain’t gunna happen lol.

The only part that sucked was health going down the drain due to drugs - I felt like shit over doing it and my social life suffered as well because during prep it was tunnel vision. I loved every workout and looking superhuman, but the costs outweighed the benefits after a while and it’s not a cheap endeavor by any means - legitimate (not faked) HGH and cocktails are not cheap.

I much rather at this point in my life still look pretty damn good (IMO) while spending money on my Tacoma, vacations, quality food, etc and enjoying life outside of the gym. I’m 27 and have a lot of life left to live, so I had to make a decision that was ultimately best for my future.

Don’t get me wrong I still love it, still use cocktails, just in a much much lower and arguably healthier amounts that I know my body can handle while focusing on eating the best I can for longevity. I’ll never be as big as I was, nor do I care to be. Not like women find a freak looking muscle dude sexy anyways lol (most don’t), so still looking lean and in damn good shape suffices right now for 90% of my psyche lol. I still follow many pros and other competitors on Instagram and root them on, it’ll always be a love of mine.

I just didn’t want to be 35+ with nothing to show for other than a few wins and fucked up health, so I made the conscious decision to step away and explore the rest of what life has to offer.

So glad I did - feeling GOOD 24/7 is a blessing for not only the body, but for your mind.

So why still use any cocktails if they can hinder your health? And is there any actual all natural competitions or is it all kind of a “they just don’t get caught” type of thing ? Seems kinda sad that the only way to participate in the sport is with drugs(not using the word drugs in a demeaning way).

And the 100k mile thing makes sense. I always wondered if personal trainers loved people that don’t listen cause you know it’s easy money or if they actual got mad cause it’s wasting their time (even though they’re getting paid)

Because I still want to look very much advanced and maintain as much as I can while retaining my health. Remember, cocktails aren’t inherently bad for you unless you’re abusing it and going far above normal doses - the doses most guys competing at a high level are using. I was abusing them when competing.

It is kind of sad, but it’s also part of it - no one gets involved with bodybuilding in the competition circle without that in mind. It’s a choice.

I can’t speak for all personal trainers, but the good ones care if clients don’t listen. Word of mouth and results are what spur new business and repeat clients - without results you won’t last long as a trainer. So having people who listen and subsequently get great results are key to doing well.

You said you used T4, what is that one for? That one is new to me.

I know what T4 is but how is it helpful for lifting.

T4 is a thyroid hormone, you’ll usually hear it spoken about with T3 which is also a thyroid hormone. In the fitness community it’s used to speed up metabolism.

Personally, I’ve never used the stuff so I can’t really comment on it - it was someone else farther back in the thread who mentioned they used it (or I simply thought he mentioned it on a list of other things competitors use).

I’m aware of T4. I get my thyroid levels checked every 3 months.

I thought you said you used it.

I have high levels so wondering if its part of why I’m so awesome in the gym :curls:

I have heard of people using thyroid hormones for weight loss but no as an anabolic thing.

Not going to lie, after removing almost all processed foods and lowering my sugar intake to just two Raw Sugar packets a day in my coffee, I feel a lot better and do not constantly feel run down all the time. End of week five of my cut and I'm down 14lbs.

Have you tried a safety razor or straight razor? I switched to safety a little over a year ago and love it. Great shave, very close, and once you figure a brand/type of razor blade you like, buy a big pack and it keeps your costs very low.

The downside is that it takes some getting used to and takes a touch longer to shave. Upsides are very smooth results (esp if you go straight razor), usually better for skin and ingrowns, and lower cost.

I found the best forearm workout.

I’m digging beds around my house to lay rock. I’m spraying grass killer everywhere. Squeeze a spray bottle 1 million times in 45 minutes and you get quite a pump.

Jeff Cavalier at Athlean X is the #1 trainer on youtube as well as his field. Education is key, not drugs and he proved you can get where you wanna go natural and even with bad genes.

Just stay the course, consistency trumps all. Highly recommend everyone who doesn't know Jeff, check out his YT channel, you won't be disappointed.

Yes. I’m sure Phil Heath and Kai Greene could look the exact same as they do now with a little extra knowledge.

Look, you’ll never see me use anything outside of nutritional supplements for growth. Just not my thing, but if you want to compete in the IFBB and get as big as you can... good luck getting anywhere without using.

You’ll never win Mr. Olympia clean.
Anabolics do make an incredible difference.
