I just bought my certified 2017 taco two weeks ago. Found two issues I wanted taken care of and the sales rep and his manager didn’t hesitate a second to setup the service appointment to get the items taken care of ( will be this Saturday ). I was not told I Gf to wait 30 days so I feel pretty confident it’s a scheme on your sales reps end to push it to warranty instead of the dealer.. which I would assume would put it under warranty anyway
