The neighbors definitely make it more fun up here. That's why it's hard for me to leave once I get up here, the people & the mountain itself is so much fun.

I’m hoping that someone here on the forums will be able to help me track down the first owner of this 2017 Quicksand TRD Off Road long bed Tacoma with 25,527 miles on it with a OEM bed extender and a Star Armor step rail. This was purchased from Heritage Toyota Catonsville on May 20th 2017. This Tacoma was recently traded in to a Heritage Dealer in Owens Mills near Baltimore Maryland. All the service on it was performed at Jerry’s Toyota Scion in Nottingham Maryland. The vehicle was registered as a commercial vehicle. I’m just curious to what kind of work was done with this truck. If any knows who owned it and can you please put that person intouch with me please. Reason for asking for help is I’m getting ready to trade in my SR5 for it and would like to get a little background on it if i could. Thanks Chuck

Here is the carfax link and the dealer link

We didn't shoot at my place, off a buddies back porch down the road from me. I was just a spectator. My buddy was letting everybody play with his AK.

Again, I would recommend messaging Marie at Headstrong with these questions, she is a wizard when it comes to questions on lift kits. BUT they are moving right now so they aren't answering technical questions. I copy and pasted a message that she sent me. Basically, she recommended against running Bilsteins with 886 coils which have a higher spring rate and are designed for trucks with extra weight (which you have... bumper, winch, etc.) Beware, it's long:

Bilsteins are a steel body that has been coated with their triple-C coating which seems to hold up better in the elements the powder coating that OME’s has on their steel shocks.
There are two different OME struts available the standard 90000 which are the firmest and the 90021 soft ride struts. The Bilsteins fall in the middle as far as valving is concerned.
The OME’s have a slightly larger shock diameter than the Bilsteins.
The Bilsteins are a monotube shock and the OME are twin tube.
The Bilsteins can run the OME coils but if you wanted to run the OME 886, for weight either now or down the line, the 5100’s and those coils are not best paired together. If that were ever going to be the case with your build then OME would be a better fit.
The OME shocks have an internal component which can be noisy at times. Some people refer to it as the “speed bump clunk.” The Bilsteins do not have this same component design.
The OME rear shocks will work for the Dakar pack and not require bump stop modification or longer brake lines but they limit the amount of droop you see from the Dakar leaf pack. The standard length Bilstein 5100’s really should be used with one of the add-a-leafs or a block up to 1.5”. The extended length RCD/Bilsteins will also work with the Dakar leaf pack but longer brake lines are needed and possible bump stop modification but you get more droop from the pack.

So with an aal you can do the OME nitrocharger sports in the back or the standard length 5100's but the B110's would not be appropriate.

ARB has recently changed their coils so we are reworking our lift height guide. This is what we have come up with so far. These numbers are based on customer feedback and should only be used as a guide and not gospel.

NOTE: The lift achieved from any kind of spring, whether it is a leaf spring or a coil spring, is a variable lift. Meaning that the amount of lift achieved can vary. Depending on the condition of your factory components (where applicable), how they respond to the added suspension, the overall weight of the vehicle and any add-ons added (bumpers, batteries, tool boxes, covers, light bars, skids, sliders, etc) and manufacturing tolerances of the spring themselves can all influence how much lift you can see from either spring. We provide the average after settled lift height that we have seen from clients running the suspension but with averages some people get more or less lift.

OME 884 coils 590 lbs spring rate 390 mm in length (approx. 1.75” of lift on a base stock weight 05-15 4dr 4wd v6 auto, approx. 1” of lift on a base stock weight 2016-current 4dr 4wd v6 auto)
OME 885 Coils 590 lbs spring rate 395 mm in length (approx. 2.25” of lift on a base stock weight 05-15 4dr 4wd v6 auto, approx. 1.5” of lift on a base stock weight 2016-current 4dr 4wd v6 auto)
OME 886 coils 660 lb spring rate 402 mm in length (not recommended to be run on the 5100's)
OME 887 coils 590 lb spring rate 400 mm in length (approx. 2.75” of lift on a base stock weight 05-15 4dr 4wd v6 auto, approx. 2” of lift on a base stock weight 2016-current 4dr 4wd v6 auto)
OME 888 coils 590 lb spring rate 405 mm in length (not recommended for 05-15 models, approx. 2.5” of lift on a base stock weight 2016-current 4dr 4wd v6 auto)

These numbers are based on the 5100's being set at the 0 setting. Yes the Bilsteins are adjustable by changing the notch setting up on the shock body. However by doing this with a lift coil, you compound lift. So instead of seeing around 0.85" (on the 2nd gen 5100's) or 0.65” (on the 3rd gen 5100's) of extra lift you may see an 1"+ more lift. Plus there are other issues at play here like potential coil bind issues. Also by adding additional preload you can affect the ride quality as well.

If wanting to run the OME nitrocharger sport shocks people are seeing AROUND ¼” less ON AVERAGE lift then what I outlined above. As a result they lean more toward adding on a pair of our ¼” top plate spacer to gain ½” more lift from the coils. This is not something that is much of an option with the 5100’s as they incorporate the spacer to correct the lean whereas the OME struts utilize the OME trim packer for lean.

Outside of all of this, one thing that does stand out to me is this "I do plan on adding extra weight later on down the road." Depending on the long term plan for the truck the OME kit could be a better route since you can run the OME 886 coils with them over the 5100's which we don't recommend doing.
