Because we all want to know if OP’s wife read the manual and broke his rig while doing the recommended 10 monthly miles in 4H. Or because work is boring...

    Closure, I just want closure.

I want to know what happened to the truck. Was it just dried mud stuck in the rear drum.

It's fine to drive on dry pavement that is straight. Even long gradual turns/curves should be ok. Binding occurs when you turn too sharply.

Alright, here is what you all been waiting for.

It was the rear E-brake/brake-lines. Apparently the shop I had install the lift didn't reroute the rear brake-lines which caused them to kink/stretch enough to eventual apply the e-brake. Dealer has me for $120/line x2 and 5hrs of labor for a total of $980 plus tax.

Yes this will be addressed with the shop as this could have ended up much differently if they were on the highway when this happened.

Shit man. Hopefully the shop that did the install pony's up and reimburses you for the repair.

Well damn. I'm glad that didn't happen on the highway, and that no one got hurt.

Do you think extended brake lines are needed? Couldn't this happen again?

How liable would the shop be?

What you described sounds like a mistake was made during the install, but they did install after market "off road" parts on your vehicle. I know the mfg of those parts will not be held liable if something were to happen on a public road way.

The dealer told my wife that they just reroute the factory lines when they do 0-3" lifts and haven't had any issues.

I'm not sure, but we're going to bring it to his attention regardless.

I was just looking at the installation instructions for the Icon lifts and haven't seen anything about rerouting the brake lines or the need of extensions.

5 hours of labor seems pretty excessive though...

If you purchased an e-brake extension bracket and the shop forgot to install then they should foot the bill. If neither you or the shop spec'd out e-brake extension bracket than liability falls on your lap.

What confuses me is I just had to replace an e-brake line after over extension off roading and tore the outer rubber hose at the bracket. It caused the e-brake to stick not being able to release after in use. You have already torn the outer hose and your wife would have had to use the e-brake while parking. It doesn't just lock up after already rolling forward with no issue at least for my situation. When I had my e-brake torn for 9 months and forgot not to use it the only way to release was to drive backwards for 1-2ft.

Update: I replaced both e-brakes cables, ripped the center console apart and tore apart both drums (first time touching drums in my life) less than 2 hours. I find it hard for a shop with a lift taking 5hrs. I removed the brackets and just zip tied the line at the last support of sliders. I can fully extend my Fox 2.0 3-5" lift shocks. The Dakar leafs are actually the limiting factor now.
