I have a 2009 tacoma... I just hit 170k miles... i just changed my oil... and I noticed I lost a good quart and half of oil.... I usually put in Mobil 1 Synethic High Mileage Extend preformance... my previous oil changed was feb and I had 163k miles. what is causing my engine to burn this much oil??? does it mean I need to change my oil often? I put a lot of miles on the truck because of high way.... I need some opinions and suggestions! please!

Are you sure it’s burning oil? There is no leaking? Is the drive way clean? Engine bay clean? Dripping valve cover, rear seal?

Have you pulled the spark plugs? What do they look like?

    Any oil in the coolent?

I dont see any leaks nor do I smell any oil burning. Engine bay is clean... well it is dirty from dirt. last time i pulled the plugs out were 2 yrs go... and they looked fine back then. I mean, I know the truck is older now. I understand it will eat some oil, but I didn't expect this much!

Keep up the Mobil 1 as scheduled , check compression to see if it's rings , have a mechanic check it out it might need value seals or something .
