    Hey guys -
Long time lurker on the TW and i'm looking for some suggestions on some easier/beginner trails outside/around the Kent WA area. I've found a few sites that have suggested places like Stampede pass which i want to check out however the time/distance is pretty long for a 1st time run.

Wanted to see if anyone had any good suggestions that are somewhat in the area but also not too long in terms of distance or time just to get my feet wet. Appreciate it!

You're in a prime spot in general. Just head out 410 to FS70 and play around. Getting to Stampede is a breeze and the entire run is only about 42mi (a couple hours). Here my route of it:

If I were you, I'd just run it in both directions for a really nice day.

Note: the little spur near the Mile 4 marker is for a fun little powerline trail climb that you can save for a run with other folks. Here's a vid of that:

I'm completely stock other than a sway bar delete. Sorry about portrait mode.

Also if you're out there, something like this is really helpful, esp with the lack of cell coverage:

Don't forget basic recovery gear, esp if you're solo. You shouldn't need it, but just in case.

Unfortunately there's nothing close by city limits unless you know someone who has a big plot of land or something. Most of the forests you see around are privately owned by timber companies.
